Oh Christmas Lights.
There’s something wonderfully festive and magical about Christmas lights. The warm glow and twinkling lights always make me happy. We didn’t make it to the lights at Trentham in 2021, so it was extra special to visit this Christmas time. Have you been? Since we last visited in 2020 there has been significant investment in the display, they have most certainly levelled up and rival the larger displays we have experienced over the years. One I would recommend you adding to your festive traditions.
A welcome addition to the trail this year was that Trentham opened their doors to dogs and made it furry baby friendly. Bob genuinely loved seeing all the lights and as the trail encompasses the whole of the Italian Gardens there was plenty of room. I’ve had a few messages asking about when the best time to visit is – as we were taking Bob along with us, we chose to visit on a Thursday evening – which meant it was much quieter than a weekend. The best decision. We felt we had the gardens to ourselves.
We visited on one of the -6 evenings, so sadly didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the food and drink pop-up stalls or ride the Ferris wheel and helter skelter. It was just too cold. Next year for sure, as I can only imagine how much fun it would have added to the whole event. A really love addition to the light trail, making it an all round evening experience.
There were so many lovely surprises within the trail; the tree looked like the one from the Polar Express, the light show within the forest and the display over the historic buildings were beautiful. And let’s not forget the music which added a wonderful atmosphere. My favourite display was the trellis walk, all year round it is my favourite part of the Italian Gardens so to see it dressed in twinkling lights is a real treat. I’ve shared a Reel over on my Insta if you’d like to see more.
