I have learned a thing or two about what I actually wear on holiday and how I wear the pieces I pack. So, I thought I would share my must-have Summer Travel Essentials for your summer holiday. After many years of over packing, I’ve finally figured it out! I think we are all guilty of over packing. Especially summer dresses, I find it so hard to resist the sales at this time of year. Anyone else?
Anyway, I thought this post would make a good series, so my plan is to share a few of these – including footwear and accessories. It could even be a handy resource for me and anyone who stumbles across these posts to look back on. So we don’t fall back into the trap of over packing.
So, in this post let’s focus on essential clothing items…
SUMMER TRAVEL ESSENTIALS {CLOTHING}
Beach cover ups – a mixture of kimonos, lace dresses, shirt dresses, shirts and chuck on dresses. Thin, breathable fabric. You cannot go wrong with a cover up – perfect for throwing on over a costume. They look really chic to go from beach to bar! My favourite ones this year are lace – I grabbed a few from Free People, Next and H&M!
White Dress – a summer holiday staple!. This year I have indulged in a white broderie dress from Zara – one that I know will be a staple piece in my wardrobe for years. Paired with floral sandals to add a pop of colour.
Dresses – pack lighter, floaty fabrics if you are travelling during the summer months. I always pack a mixture of mini, midi and maxi. I would consider the weight of the fabric as the evenings are still super warm. With temperatures as high as 35 degrees in the daytime, only dropping to 26 degrees in the evening you won’t need to worry about layers.
Denim Shorts – denim shorts are my favourite. Can you ever have too many pairs of denim shorts? You can dress them up with a cami for the evening or wear with a costume for the day, thrown om a kimono and head to a beach bar. Simple. I find sizing up in denim shorts helps for a more relaxed fit.
Swimwear – it’s a costume (or 7) all the way for me. It’s been a few years since I wore a bikini and actually I prefer the support a costume offers me. I wear them like an outfit during the day and love styling them for an early evening at a beach bar. So that I can mix and match them with my outfits, I like to go for a range of colours as well as styles. This year I am packing leopard print, black, white, pink, multi-colour, pale green and rust. A range of styles including backless, V-neck, strapless and strappy.
And that’s my thoughts on Summer Travel Essentials {Clothing} that I’ll be packing for our Summer holiday in Cyprus.
Would you add any to the list? And don’t forget to check back for the next in this series of post, accessories next!
