That’s the biggest question when planning a UK break. Or at least one of them! On our first trip it felt like a huge task.
When you are packing your clothes for a UK camping trip, you have to remember to pack for all weathers. Don’t be fooled by the mini heatwave, always think about layers and cooler evenings, cloud and maybe even a spot of rain. Our last trip in July was during the mini heatwave so these ideas won’t suit all times of the year.
When you camp in the summer in the UK, you will need to bring many different clothes, even if you only plan to go for two days. The change in temperature at night really surprised us. And it wasn’t as simple as going inside to warm up. I went as far as dividing my packing into clothes for different times of the day. The boys were quite jealous as they were far more optimistic in their choices!
What to wear on a camping trip to Wales
1. Layering pieces – thin sweaters, a cargo jacket, a comfy pair of loose pants for the evenings and early starts, socks and sleepwear with a sweater just for sleeping in.
2. Accessories – backpack, beach bag, hats, sunglasses, umbrella, socks for cooler evenings, beach & bath towels.
3. Footwear – we weren’t planning on hiking as it was so warm, so instead I packed my Teva sandals which are great for walking in and waterproof so perfect for paddling in the sea. I also packed my Birkenstocks for wandering around the campsite. You could take flip flops for the shower block.
4. Daywear – denim shorts, t-shirts, cotton/linen shorts, camisole tops and vest tops – I took an extra days clothes just in case.
5. Kids packing – onesie for night time, hoody and joggers for the morning and evenings, flip flops, trainers & sandals, several pairs of shorts as it’s not as easy to dry clothing. And football kits which are thin and quick drying.
