It’s been so long since I dedicated a post to my gorgeous George. Which in itself is crazy as he has been the most inspirational, resilient, committed, funny and selfless human being these past twelve months. He is a wonder. The best little person to be around when things get tough, in a lockdown, on rainy days, on sunny days and more. So much more.
I am proud of many things in life but nothing beats being a mother
I adore watching my baby boy grow into the most adorable, football loving, grown up boy. And as he approaches his 10th birthday I can’t help but think about all the things he missed out on in 2020. I don’t know about you but occasionally it makes me so sad, all emotional. And then I see his excitement for all of our plans as the world opens back up.
I mentioned all the things he has missed, it’s also been 12 months since I watched him play football. I didn’t realise how much I had missed it until last week – supporting him from the side-lines, being the embarrassing mum I am so often accused of being. After all this time it was so good to be back supporting him. He’s my inspiration.
Despite everything the last 12 months has thrown at him he’s remained focussed on his training, mostly on Zoom and then in person when allowed. He never stopped and if truth be told I think the focus was so good for him. He’s so committed to the game and it showed as soon as he was allowed to kick back in. His fitness and stamina was there, his skill level too. And last weekend he won man of the match twice, for both teams. I think he’s incredible.
Dear George, Be brave. Be silly. Be your own magic. Be present. Be full of surprises. Be adventurous. Be kind. Be free. Be you.
Love you to the moon and back, Mummy x x
