Spring has officially sprung and I’m welcoming the brighter days, blooming daffodils and blossom trees with open arms. And then there’s my Spring wardrobe, my morning coffee in the sunshine and alfresco lunch times with my gorgeous George. Even my Birkenstocks have been pulled out of isolation. Simple pleasures. Here’s everything you need to know about this week.
The weather has been so kind since we were put in to lockdown. It’s a blessing really as I’m not sure I would enjoy looking out to grey skies and raindrops when home working and home schooling. It’s a lot of pressure. This week was the start of the Easter holidays for us, we’ve kept some routine for George as Mr H and I never planned to break this half term. Although we have definitely relaxed his home schooling this week with more time spent in the garden for him. We even had our first BBQ. It was wonderful. It’s the little things.
And so this week I have been…
Wearing
Always a favourite section to share with you although perhaps not the super styled shots I usually like to post. Instead there are mirror selfies and random shots taken on our daily exercise. I find myself switching from wearing leisure wear, pj’s and throwing on a Spring dress to lift the mood. How about you? I’ve definitely decided to remove all make up and am no longer blow drying or curling my hair, instead I am leaving it to air dry. I know that my skin and hair are thankful for the break.
Anyway, my dress of Spring has to be this gorgeous mustard maxi dress from Weekday. I picked it up a few weeks ago after seeing it on Insta last year. She is called the Gloria dress and gosh does she make me happy. Sunshine in a dress. I just love the style and fit of this dress and know that it will be worn from now until September. And then there’s my floral maxi dress from H&M which is also going to follow me through to September.
Watching
What have we been watching? We are really enjoying Mandalorian on Disney +. And then there’s the 3rd X-Men, George seems to really enjoy watching them. Whereas I’m a bit of a Marvel snob to be honest and much prefer the Avengers. We have really enjoyed watching re runs of Ant & Dec’s end of the show show as well as James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. Finding the joy in the things that make us all giggle. But most of all George.
Baking
Our first baking session of lockdown. Most of my social media has been filled with family bake offs since we have been spending more time at home. George declared last Sunday a good time to bake so we made peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies. I’ve linked the recipe if you fancy making them. Always a favourite. Super simple and so delicious. We’ve been nibbling on them all week and seriously I might have to make them more often.
Feeling thankful
After almost 3 weeks in lockdown I am feeling very lucky to be home safe with my boys. Our fur baby is living on borrowed time, despite not looking any different the cancer is spreading. It feels wonderful and very precious to be closer to him at this time. We are also extremely grateful to all those who are helping to keep our country safe, caring for those who fall ill, to all those keeping the streets safe and shops stocked with supplies. Many many people. During his creative time on Wednesday George did this. From George Archie with love…
And lastly, enjoying alfresco lunches
Our garden might not be Instagrammable or huge in size but after a little tidy it is allowing us to sit outside at lunch times. We come together after our mornings dotted all around the house working. Chit chatting about all the little things and hearing George’s laughter as I kick his butt at swing ball. I even managed to work in the sunshine one afternoon which is definitely a treat and something I haven’t done for many years. We have also been playing every card game we own and having lots of fun with it too.
I do hope you enjoy the long weekend whatever you are doing. Stay home, stay safe, save lives.
