10 of the best Christmas movies to get you into the festive spirit
The end of November is a perfectly acceptable time to start re-watching all of your favourite Christmas movies. If you have been watching my Instastories over the weekend you will be aware that we have welcomed the festive season into the Hargreaves household over the last couple of weeks. We are starting to feel the joy of the festive season. The Christmas movies have been unboxed, we’ve been organising decorations and lights. We’ve even visited the Christmas Tree Farm.
There’s some that we watch each year, time and time again only for them to get better and better. And then there’s the new additions. For me, the more excessively sentimental the better. I’m talking Love Actually and The Holiday. The boys prefer a different angle. Mr H relives his childhood watching Home Alone and Home Alone 2. And George, well he’s all about elf and Jingle All The Way.
It goes without saying that I am waiting with bated breath to see Emilia Clarke in the Last Christmas. Written by Emma Thompson (one of my all time favourite actresses), inspired by George Michael songs – what is not to love. Will you be watching it?
And here are 10 of the best Christmas movies…
1. Love Actually
2. Holiday
3. Christmas Chronicles
4. Miracle on 34th Street
5. Home Alone 1 and 2
6. The Polar Express
7. Santa Claus The Movie
8. elf
9. Grinch
10. Arthur Christmas
But of course there are more. I have shared this list with my boys so do forgive me for missing out some classics like Fred Claus, The Nativity, It’s a Wonderful Life, New Years Eve, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Father Christmas, A Christmas Carol, Stick Man, The Snowman and The Snowdog. And lastly, The Santa Claus. I’m almost certain that I have missed some good ones off the list. What are your favourite Christmas moves to get you into the festive spirit?
I watched Last Christmas on Friday. It’s a festive feel good, funny but also sad.
Love all these. My other faves are Die Hard, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Family Man (sort of a Christmas Carol type), Miracle on 34th Street (the 90s one) and Scrooged. Andy and H love The Muppet’s Christmas Carol .
And know it’s not a film, but rewatching the Gavin & Stacy xmas special each year is a must for us. Can’t wait for the new one this year!
