Star Wars Guided Tour Hollywood Studios Orlando
Come with us as we adventure around Disney’s Hollywood Studios and explore all of the amazing things we saw on the Star Wars Guided Tour. What an incredible day and experience. I am so glad that we took the plunge and paid the extra $99 per person to experience it. This tour gives registered guests VIP access through all of the Star Wars themed experiences at the park. We actually booked this as a surprise for George. He is a huge Star Wars fan, as are we.
And as we always planned to spend two days at Hollywood Studios we didn’t mind having one day mainly taken up by this tour. It lasted around 7 hours, starting around 8am before the park opened and finishing around 2pm depending on whether you take part in the Jedi Training. There was so much that we saw and will remember forever from this tour, forgive me if I hold some details back as I do not want to spoil it for you. This is an incredible experience.
What do you need to know about the Star Wars Guided Tour?
So the first thing you need to do is check in next to Mickey’s of Hollywood which is just on your left as you walk through the turnstiles. Upon check-in, you’ll receive a tour lanyard with your name on it and an audio device that you’ll wear during the tour so you can easily hear the tour guides. You’ll see on the back of your lanyard that you can decode the Aurebesh language and spell your name. Awesome. When registering for the tour, you will choose between the First Order or the Resistance – naturally, we all chose the Resistance.
You also place your lunch order at this point, which you’ll eat in a reserved VIP area of Backlot Express. At this point we then met our two tour guides who were brilliant. With their light sabers in the air, they led us down Hollywood Boulevard – and you know what an empty park means, superb photos. Along the way, our guides explained some of the film’s history and how Star Wars came to be at the Disney parks long before the company’s acquisition of Lucasfilm.
What’s included in the Star Wars Guided Tour Hollywood Studios Orlando?
I don’t want to ruin it for you, as the magic is in some of the extra detail that they don’t share with you when booking. However there are lots of bits I can share with you to help you understand if paying for this additional tour is worthy of the price. In short if you are a huge Stars Wars fan then yes, it’s a must. So, what’s included in the Star Wars Guided Tour?
On the tour we learned about all aspects of Star Wars in Disney’s Hollywood Studios; including some fun facts on Star Tours, interesting information on screen used props inside of Star Wars Launch Bay and so much history. We found hidden Mickey’s. We got front of the line access to meet Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, & BB8! Lunch was included at Backlot Express where we had the best character interaction with a Storm Trooper. This was personal to George and not actually part of the event. They noticed that he was the First Order Spy after riding Star Tours and made a bee line for him!
You also get to march with the first order which in itself was an incredible experience. And if you have kids you automatically get entered into the Jedi Training. I have friends who have tried and failed to register for Jedi Training. It was a huge part of the day for George. You get professional photos as part of the package which we didn’t know about. The tour also includes access to a special viewing location for the Star Wars Fireworks at the end of the night, which was incredible as everyone involved was sat down with no grown ups spoiling the view.
Is the Star Wars Guided Tour worth the additional cost?
This tour is an additional cost to that of your tickets and the best place to buy it is direct on the Disney website. If you are a Star Wars fan this is a must. As a family we all really, really enjoyed the time spent having VIP access to the Star Wars areas. As I mentioned the tour is around $99 plus the cost of admission to the park and includes lunch in that cost. It also includes the professional photos from the Jedi Training as well as treats which weren’t listed on the booking information. We took the tour before Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opened so there may now be some differences to this Guided Tour. So do check the website for further information.
But wait, there’s more – although these are those extra special Disney Magic touches they add to truly make this a great experience. I don’t want to tell you everything so as not to spoil it for you. Let’s just say for us, it was the best – we enjoyed this day the most out of all the Disney parks and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it.
