Family Photography with Amanda White
So our little family had some pictures taken a few days ago. And since then I’ve been scrolling through the images, smiling, sharing them with family, laughing as I recall the questions Amanda asked George. I genuinely feel so thankful that we have these photos. I will cherish them. And why? Because each photo tells a story. For me that’s what photography is all about. Capturing a moment in time. These photos are a constant reminder of our little family right now in Chapter 10 of 2019.
I have been chatting with Amanda for some time now so when the day finally arrived I was so excited to meet her. And what a great time of year to be photographed, Autumn in full bloom. We have so many photos from our Spring and Summer adventures, yet during the colder months I find it so much harder to capture our little family. I don’t know about you but I am always the one behind the camera so for that reason alone, I would recommend booking a shoot. We last had a professional photo taken when George was less than a year old. He’s now 8 so I guess you could say it was about time.
Having spoken to Amanda for almost a year, it felt like I knew who I was meeting. We’ve followed each other on social media for the same time so actually it felt so natural for her to be taking our photo. She knew so much about us even before meeting us. I love that about social media, you can build up a really lovely picture.
Words I would use to describe a session with Amanda… Fun, natural, relaxed, enjoyable, friendly, warm
What can you expect from a photo shoot with Amanda?
Lots of helpful information in the run up to your photo shoot. Advice and tips as well as lots of options for packages and how the shoot works. Even down to helpful tips on choosing your outfits, and what not to wear. Amanda will also give you a choice of where to have the shoot. We opted for Trentham Gardens as we know it so well and love spending our weekends wandering around the gardens. It felt natural to be photographed here.
Amanda made us all feel so comfortable. We really enjoyed the shoot and have even talked about the next one (or I have). I’m thinking of one with our fur baby as well as one to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary in 2020. Finding a photographer who can help you to enjoy having your photo taken is a skill I don’t believe all photographers possess. It’s a skill in itself. And she never said cheese or smile once.
You can tell Amanda has a background in working with children. She was natural and so relaxed – which rubbed off on us. In some respects she had her work cut out – Mr H doesn’t really enjoy having his photo taken, George had hurt his shoulder playing football in the morning and then there’s me. Always directing as I love taking photos. A little bossy and a perfectionist. We all had to let go, Amanda gave us the confidence to do that – which I think you can see from the quality of the images.

And so if you are thinking of booking a family photo shoot I would highly recommend speaking with Amanda. She’s so talented. And a lovely person to go with it. Secondly I would recommend you following these simple tips to help you ensure the shoot goes smoothly. Amanda will be able to guide you further and certainly on hand to answer any questions…
1. Ensure you are all fed and watered and have visited the bathroom
2. Consider taking a change of clothes or some accessories – we took hats as I wanted to create a different look and feel to the photos (see below)
3. Lastly follow your photographer on social media, it will help you to build that all important connection
A little behind the scenes…
As you’re all as nosey as I am (you know you are), I couldn’t resist grabbing a few shots of Amanda doing her thing. From someone who loves photography it was lovely to see Amanda work. There was nothing intrusive, we talked, we walked, we laughed all whilst Amanda took our photo. And look how big that camera is, and believe me as the shoot went on the lens’ got bigger. I was in awe of Amanda’s equipment. Do you need an assistant?
Although I would just like to say, that Amanda allowed me to grab these shots as I wanted them to be a part of this blog post and to show you a snippet on social media. Rightly so Amanda wouldn’t encourage families to do this, mainly because it distract those being photographed. Naturally they look to each camera. I would say, just enjoy the moment – be in the moment and enjoy it. I really just wanted to be able to share some behind the scenes photo’s with you.
Amanda has captured the essence of our family perfectly. I have enjoyed everything about the process. From the initial email to the information received in the run up to the shoot, to actually meeting, how Amanda guided us on the day, the many text messages afterwards and lastly the excitement of seeing the digital images. You will not be disappointed. Amanda, thank you for working with us, we are all in awe of you, of your photography skills and ability to capture such natural shots and for how relaxed you made us all feel. No mean feat.

The photos are beautiful.
I would really like someone to take photos of us as a family and it would need to be someone as good as this as Grayson hates having photos. So would have to be very natural.

We had a great afternoon with Amanda, really enjoyed the shoot
They’re lovely photos Kerri-Ann. And perfect being at Trentham Gardens to have them taken too. I met Amanda once at a networking meeting a long time ago (must be at least 10 yeas now) and I’m sure she probably won’t remember me, but I remember her being really lovely and friendly.
