This week I have been
Enjoying the sunshine, family time, impromptu evenings in the sun with friends. It’s been lovely to switch off. You have to make the most of these moments don’t you. Sometimes life is so busy, that when you can slow it all down and take each moment as it happens it’s all about grabbing the opportunity. Living in the moment.
And so this week I have been…
Taking photographs
Of pretty blooms. I think other than taking photo’s of my family and the beach I adore capturing pretty flowers. On Sunday we spent a few hours at Trentham Gardens. They were in full bloom and of course I couldn’t resist walking amongst them and pressing click. The smell, the colours, they never fail to disappoint. In May and June I love this same trellis walk, then it is dripping in Wisteria. In July, rose bushes line the same area. So delicate and bright. So beautiful. This area of the gardens has so much to offer all year round. In some strange way I can’t wait for Autumn, the colours are so vibrant.
Shopping
For a few Summer bits and bobs. Mr H surprised George and I with a little shopping trip on Saturday whilst we were in Manchester. Surprise shopping trips are my favourite kind. We mainly went to watch the new Spidy movie in IMAX and to spend George’s birthday money. The boy really enjoyed picking out which toys and teddies he wanted. Gosh he’s growing up, counting up the pounds and choosing between one of soft teddy and the next. Mufasa won. As did lots of Toy Story 4.
Wearing glitter goggles
On Saturday evening we took to Trentham Gardens to watch the Viva La Coldplay tribute band. We had a brilliant night. As a family we are all huge fans of Coldplay. There’s something about Chris Martin’s voice that soothes me. And then there’s Viva La Vida, our second song on our Wedding night. Having watched Coldplay a few times, I have to say other than the way they dressed and the staging they didn’t sound much like them at all. That said it was a lovely experience to share with George, together as a family. George and I had a lot of fun painting each others face.
Watching George play football
This boy makes me so incredibly proud. This week he signed for his Football team which means he can’t play for another team as long as he’s signed with them. On Sunday he played against a much older and more experienced team. As a group they played so well, held their own and gave it their all. And this boy was voted Man of the Match by the parents. I nearly cried when I saw him selected. He needed this little boost of confidence.
Spending time together
After George’s football match on Sunday we took the opportunity to spend the rest of the day together, just us. The sun shone, they played football of course, all whilst I sat on a deckchair and wistfully watched the day go by. The sound of children laughing, ducks quacking and birds tweeting. It felt like the perfect summers day. And then quite spur of the moment, our friends invited us to a BBQ. I rather love in the moment plans.
And that’s ‘this week I have been’ post. Have a great week and see you next week.
