Our review of the luxury lodges at Sandybrook…
If you are looking for a little luxury, stunning views and accommodation that screams quality then visiting the Luxury Lodges at Sandybrook, Peak District are a must. At the beginning of the month to celebrate the launch of my new business and Mr H’s birthday we escaped to the country. Weekend breaks are a huge favorite for our little family, two or three nights away, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life instantly leaves me and the boys feeling all zen like. What about you?
We were invited to spend the weekend in the Vista Spa which are new to the park and oh my goodness were we impressed. And here is my review. We were so impressed. I said this then, and i’ll say it again – this lodge is by far the best and most luxurious accommodation of this type that we have ever experienced. We have been lucky to review similar in the past. You won’t be disappointed with the Sandybrook Luxury Lodges. There is literally nothing that they haven’t thought of when designing this space. Perfectly positioned; with nearby towns, adventure spots, walks and more – you won’t be disappointed.
What is special about the Vista-Spa at Sandybrook?
The website boasts of the view, it is spectacular. Whether you are looking across the park, through the trees and admiring the blue sky beyond or into the Peak District you won’t be disappointed. The look and feel, the finish (I’m talking about the bathroom), the family design and feel of having the bedrooms either side of the central space. I loved the design of the living space with a breakfast bar that left me wanting to redesign our dining area. The large private deck where you can enjoy an alfresco breakfast or even sit and enjoy a glass of bubbly whilst your little ones plays in the hot tub is superb. A hot tub with a view and so private. Which brings me to my final point – the Vista-Spa for me is head and shoulders above because of the privacy.
What is there to do on site at Sandybrook…
A dip in the hot tub has to be your first priority! And in terms of our review of what there is to do onsite here goes. There’s the woodland walk, sports fields, old fashioned noughts and crosses, the playground and all the activities available to book here at an additional cost. We paid for the Water Walkerz which George loved. He also love splashing about in the pool. I can imagine it being lovely here in the warmer months as the pool opens up to a patio area.
There’s the Coach House which has a gorgeous courtyard area and games room inside. And of course another dip in the tub whilst taking in the spectacular vista. If you so wish you could lock yourself away from the world and stay on site – there is enough to entertain all the family in between returning back to the lodge for quieter moments or to refuel.
What is there to do near Ashbourne…
As part of our review of the accommodation and site we wanted to venture off site. We love to explore and despite living only 45 minutes away we have never visited nearby Ashbourne before. And so on the Saturday we went on a little adventure. An adventure of three parts, well there are three of us and there is definitely something for all the family.
We walked up to Thor’s Cave, stomped around the cobbled streets of Ashbourne followed by a truly scrumptious lunch and warm up at The Old Dog near Thorpe. It was the perfect day. The food and desserts were really good. Best pub food we’ve had in a long time. If you want a table on walking in then arrive as it opens as midday, otherwise like us we waited a few mins. There is a lovely outdoor area which would be perfect in warmer months.
I would highly recommend adding all three to your list if you are visiting. I love how close Sandybrook is to all these spots, we were only in the car a few minutes to each yet they all offered something different.
In summary, we loved our stay at the Luxury Lodges, Sandbybrook and would definitely return. We had such a fun time and loved exploring on and off site. There was so much to do within a few minutes of the park – I would always recommend you search for what to do both on and off site to mix up your stay. If you’re wondering whether to visit Sandybrook or their sister park Darwin Forest then you can read our review of Darwin Forest here – we visited last year.
* Disclosure – We were gifted a 2 night stay in exchange for an honest review. All activities and food were purchased by ourselves.
Looks like such a beautiful and relaxing place to take the family. Definitely adding it to our list we love places like this. So fun to explore around too. Sounds like it was one to remember. And the accommodations are so trendy love that!!!
It looks like such a lovely place to stay and clearly there are loads of things to keep all members of the family occupied. I love the sound of Thor’s Cave – that would be top of my list of adventures I think!
