I must start by saying Thank You to the team at Red Letter Days for inviting us along to a Pamper Treat and Afternoon Tea at the Three Horse Shoes Country Inn and Spa. It was such a treat and just what we both needed after a very long week at the office. Set in a peaceful location on the edge of the Staffordshire Peak Park – I don’t think there is a better way to spend a blustery Saturday. Than at a Spa with only a magazine, coffee and croissants on the agenda.
We spent a truly relaxing 6 hours in the Spa, moving between the sauna rooms, plunge pool (oh my goodness that was cold), Jacuzzi, relaxation room and beyond. I’m not sure I could pin point my favourite spot, although I did manage to read a magazine from start to finish in the relaxation room. Something I haven’t done in such a long time.
As Spa’s go I loved the look and feel of The Mill Wheel Spa, petite and perfectly positioned with the most stunning views. Disappointingly no pool for Mr H but that didn’t spoil our day. I can imagine it being so beautiful in the warmer months – sat outside with only the sound of the Jacuzzi bubbles around you. Or even when there is snow on the hill tops. Can you imagine?
And to top it all off we ended our relaxing few hours with a scrumptious afternoon tea served in The Country Inn. Recently refurbished – such a gorgeous setting. We both loved the traditional yet modern look and could see ourselves returning for a Sunday Roast with George.
We sipped tea whilst eating finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam and lets not forget some rather scrumptious homemade cakes. Delicious! We even took a goody bag home for our gorgeous boy as there was so much.
The perfect way to spend the day, a Valentines day treat or special occasion.
This place looks and sounds idillic!! Dom and I haven’t had night away together for ages and somewhere like this would be perfect!! Some relaxation time, followed by a gorgeously indulgent afternoon tea is my idea of heaven.
Get it booked lovely!
Looks a really lovely setting, and a gorgeous way to unwind after a week in work x
Oh it was my love. And just the right size too although I did miss a pool
Looks beautiful. I was given a voucher for a spa day for Christmas and I can’t wait to go and have a bit of pampering. And how wonderful that you and Mr H got the chance to spend the day together just the two of you – it’s so important to reconnect isn’t it? I’ve not heard of this place before – will go and check it out online as it can’t be too far away from me.
Its a lovely location, you’d love the area around it too. The reservoir is very close to it too
Oh it sounds truly peaceful and magical for Valentine’s Day or a girlie spa day (wink wink). That is a shame no pool for Mr H though. A whole magazine in relaxation room YES PLEASE! I haven’t had peace like it in eight years. lol Mr P and I recently did a couples spa and it was so lovely together. Quality time spent relaxing is food for the heart. Food looked great too!
Yes a girly spa day sounds just brilliant. We need to think of booking one. x
KA this place looks and sounds amazing! I really think there is nothing more relaxing than a whole day at a spa with just a magazine and food for company! Obviously having my OH there too would be pretty fab. Love the look of this place – rustic charm at its best. xx
Oh you know what it was a great day. Mr H didn’t enjoy it as much as I did, but that’s him not being able to relax. Its a gorgeous rustic spot
Aw I do love a spa day, and afternoon tea its such a treat. I am so glad you had a fab day x
Oh me too, and I have another at the end of the month. So lucky x
