Friday Favourites {Top 5 From The Week}

Oh hey there Friday. And hello to my first round up of 2019.

A snapshot of my favourite things. I’ve been writing this type of post for nearly four years, under many different names. For 2019 I’m going to focus on five of my favourite things. I want to continue to look for moments whether big or small that have made me smile. Life isn’t always easy, the days and weeks don’t always go as planned. And so this post will always be one to make me smile.

So how’s the New Year for you? It’s been such a positive start over here. As a family we have so much to look forward to – holidays, birthdays, weekend trips and a couple of big changes which I can’t mention just yet (sorry about being all secret squirrel). As we do each year, we made our promises to each other, I popped a little post up about them if you fancy a snoop.

I don’t know about you but I’ve read so many articles and posts about January being a gloomy month, folk struggling – isn’t it just the same as getting back into things after a holiday? Why so gloomy? New year, fresh eyes, new beginnings, making plans – I really do enjoy closing one Chapter and looking forward to another beginning.

And so, here are my Friday Favourites

Birthday Celebrations…

I celebrated my birthday last Friday with a morning off training, cosy snuggles in bed with George and a slow day before Mr H came home from work. It was lovely. Especially after being back to work for two days. A long weekend was just perfect. I’ve written more about my birthday here.

Making plans…

As the new year broke we’ve had our heads down planning our trip to Florida for the Easter break. It seemed so long ago when we first booked our flights. We now have accommodation on and off site booked. We’ve picked restaurants and parks we want to visit. Seriously though, we have only just scraped the barrel. There is so much to plan.

Have you been to Florida? Do leave me any tips or links to posts you found helpful. I have been watching vlogs and reading blogs. Although trying not to spoil the magic by watching too many vlogs. Last week I felt a little overwhelmed but as the realisation of all the planning has settled so have my feelings. It will be an amazing holiday for our little family.

Back to routine…

We are now all back to work, school and after school clubs and classes. In some way we all crave routine. I certainly do. I think it’s good for us. Although I will go as far to say that George liked the lack of routine – waking late and playing with his toys for two weeks. Having to wake him at 7.50 am one morning this week was tough but I think we’re all getting re conditioned and before we know it Christmas will be a distant memory.

Me time…

One thing I learnt in 2018 was that I need a little bit of me time for the balance to be right. And it’s ok. Healthy body, healthy mind as they say. Mainly I’ve found ‘me time’ in exercise, it’s my time to put everything else to one side and focus on looking after my body. Eating clean. Feeling confident and comfortable in my skin. I really do enjoy exercise.

Clothes…

As much as I am craving a little sunshine I do love my winter wardrobe. Over the last few days it’s been so cold. It’s all about the layers and my cosy knits. I’m finding more ways to style this rust cardigan from Next. And couldn’t resist picking up this ooh la la tee from Topshop as part of my birthday money. Both of which I am really looking forward to styling this weekend.

I’m Kerri-Ann or KA as my friends call me, always found with a cup of coffee in one hand and my camera in the other. I have a huge passion for photography, fitness, fashion and family travel. I started this blog in 2014. It began as my creative outlet after becoming a mummy to our little boy George Archie. I started out blogging about parenting and over the years it has evolved into a blog that covers lifestyle, fashion, family and travel. Today TheKAEdit is ultimately a life and style blog. You’re right, January is all about mindset isn’t it? We can focus on the gloomy grey skies, lack of money and having to return to work/school, or we can see it as a fresh new start and twelve months full of opportunity ahead. I’m so excited to follow your trip to Florida (though it’s going to make me want to book flights back there immediately I’m sure!). Happy planning 🙂

      Oh for sure, mindset and planning. Lots of folk moan about not having any money – surely the answer is to budget like any other month. For me it’s just like being on holiday, nothing more. I’m so excited for the holiday x

    I totally agree it’s about positivity, we have a lot to look forwards to, I have some great ideas and that is what I want to focus on, not the negative stuff. Happy belated birthday! I love that tee from Topshop, so cute! The thought of planning a trip to Disney scares me, it seems a bit overwhelming with so much to do. But also so worth it, I can’t wait to watch your adventures x
