It’s time to think about coats and jumpers…

It’s time to think about coats and cosy jumpers. After this weekend I feel like I am living the Autumn dream.

Thank you River Island for collaborating with me again and for allowing me to talk about one of my favourite ‘can’t live without’ items at this time of year. Can you guess what it is?

If I could describe my must have item as the cold weather snap arrives it would be a new coat. Each year I find myself adding one or two to my wardrobe, although I also sell one or two as in Mr H’s words I have tons. Which in my defence, I do but they’re my Winter Accessory. My ‘can’t live without’ item. And if you invest in them they will last. Or dare I say take a practical approach.

It took me a little while to adjust to the change. I don’t know about you but it felt like Autumn arrived in the blink of an eye. No sooner had we landed in Manchester from our summer holiday I found myself packing away my sandals and browsing the A/W trends. Dreaming of cosy knits, layers, scarfs and a new winter coat. I have fully embraced the change in seasons and find myself looking forward to winter walks around the lake in my new coat and cosy Sunday afternoons snuggled under a blanket. Movie nights and hot chocolate dates.

I worked with River Island on their summer dresses campaign and was blown away by the quality as historically it hasn’t been a shop I would think of. Whereas now I do enjoy wandering around the store. I was so excited to see their new A/W trends hitting the stores and online – and ultimately working with the brand again. And I wasn’t disappointed.

I love oversized everything at this time of year, it’s an opportunity to wear some of my favourite summer dresses and skirts layered with jumpers and coats. All the cosy feels. My oversized coats, trench like in length are still my all time favourite – so it was only a matter of time before another found it’s way into my wardrobe. I mean who could resist this one? The great thing about oversized coats is that they can be thrown over an outfit for an evening as well as layering for an autumn walk. Who doesn’t like versatility? That’s what I tell Mr H.

Leopard print and pink are huge right now (which of course I have *inserts smiley face*) but my new favourite is this burnt orange dream from River Island. Or would some call it brown? It feels very 70’s and that would be my advice for this year. To buy a brown coat, one that is oversized and mix and match with different shades of a similar collection of colours. Think the colours of the 70’s. Colour clashing and adding prints is my all time favourite as the seasons change. Layer everything with a cosy jumper and add colour. Who says you can only wear colour during summer?

I hope I have given you a little inspiration for your impending winter coat shopping. And don’t forget to take a little look at my Style Loves page as I have added a collection of my favourite coats on the high street now. Do let me know in the comments if there are any coats that have caught your eye…

I am SO tempted to buy this coat and try to pull it off. I love the rustic orange color and it’s my new go to color I am drawn to it everywhere. Being short I am not sure if I could pull it off as it’s so long, looks amazing on you as always. Goes perfect with leopard print too. Maybe this is the time I should try my first leopard print any recommendations to start small should I start with a scarf or go big and get a full dress hahahaha

I think this colour would really suit you. It is long so I guess just ensure you pair it with longer bottoms like jeans or heels to lengthen the lines. A must try on x

It’s such a gorgeous coat Kerri-Ann – it looks so thick and warm and cosy. And the colour really suits you. I desperately need a new long coat like this one this winter and I wouldn’t normally think of looking in River Island for something like that – I might need to pop in and have a browse. Loved having a hot chocolate date and a natter with you last weekend – so pleased the photos turned out as well as you wanted them to.

Aww thank you, it is very snuggly, I think it looks thicker than it is so definitely one to be layered. Have a good look around all the high street stores have these longer coats in. You just have to decided on a colour. Grey is a great one for going with everything. Or black of course.
