Welcome back!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer! Weren’t we lucky with the weather? My gorgeous boy has loved his adventures over the summer holidays (check them out on Instagram if you fancy a snoop) so I guess it is only right to dedicate my first blog post after taking a little break to him. My gorgeous George. My Prince.
I never thought I would hear the words ‘I can’t wait to start Year 3 Mummy.’ He’s been saying it since having his taster day at Junior School back in July and all throughout the holidays he continued to say so. Every time I heard those words my heart swelled, you really are the bravest little boy. Facing every new adventure with hope, excitement and wonder. And despite my worries that it may be a big step, the shirt and tie, a new school environment and two new teachers – you have really surprised me. George Archie you are a shining star.
And so I’m going to repeat the words I read to you this morning…
Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem, and Smarter than you think {A.A Milne}.
We’re coming to get you Year 3 and feeling totally inspired with Winnie Pooh quotes after watching Christopher Robin yesterday. What a gorgeous movie. Winnie Pooh always knows what to say. Even when Christopher Robin had lost himself he found the words. Pooh Bear has the biggest heart and a huge love for honey, just like you George. Just like you. Never change.
And so the first day of term has come and gone. As I put you to bed this evening you were so happy and looking forward to what tomorrow brings. You wandered through those school gates so bold and brave, in your new school uniform, full of excitement for the new school year.
You came out bouncing like Tigger. And you were full of so much chatter about all the new things you have to look forward to and gosh did you look handsome. I am so proud of you. You didn’t cry, were so happy to see your friends and catch up on all of your summer adventures. I hope we look back on this day and remember all the little things you loved about your first day.
Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re Braver than you believe, Stronger than you seem, and Smarter than you think {A.A Milne}.
So lovely! He obviously gets his positive spirit from his Mummy. Really pleased he had such a wonderful first day of being a Junior x
I think maybe it is rubbing off and the 16 days in the sunshine switching off and playing football! I am so so happy that he did x
Aw hope it was an amazing day, and go get them George, I am desperate to see Christopher Robin I bet its magical x
Thank you love, he has had such a good week and really really happy. Its a lovely film – sadly a family sat next to us talking the whole way through so I am definitely hoping to watch it again x
He sounds the same as the twins!!! They were literally BURSTING with enthusiasm to go back to school and start year 1!! Such a difference from last year when Bertie was so nervous, he was sick. We’re so lucky to have our amazing boys aren’t we? 🙂 xx
It’s been lovely this year Caro as generally he is a little wobbly on the first day. Not this year, he has been a little star. I hope your boys had a good first week x
It sounds as though you’ve had the perfect summer break to get him ready and geared up for ‘back to school’. And what a perfect film to go and see the day before! I love AA Milne for brilliant quotes. Sounds like your boy is more than ready for his next step. xx
We definitely had made the most of our time together this summer. Isn’t that what it’s all about. And yes, same here AA Milne quotes are beautiful. I think you’re right, he’s definitely ready for this next stage x
I love how excited and positive he is gets it from his mamma. This is so beautiful hunny. I felt the same little wobble B starting Juniors it seems to be too grown up on the front playground with out the infants and his sister running around. Lining up with the big kids too EEEK. They are growing up on us.
He’s definitely growing in his confidence which we’ve seen so much in the last few weeks. Lovely to watch. I hope the kids have had a good week x
I do love that A A Milne quote! As you know I have it on my wall and often read it out loud for the girls to hear. Your boy sounds brilliant and I hope his first week in ‘the juniors’ was as much fun as he hoped. Have a great year George! x
It is a gorgeous quote. I think its now to print. He had a great week thank you, I hope the girls did too x
I’m so glad he had a good first day back and has started off Year 3 so positively. They’re so resilient aren’t they? I love that Winnie-the-Pooh quote too. We watched Christopher Robin on a particularly rainy Sunday a couple of weeks ago and loved it.
It’s been a great first week all round for so many things. I am so so proud of him. George has really proved to me this term just how quickly he is growing up x
