Excuse me whilst I share another post about my love for a trainer. That’s ok right? Trainers are quite possibly the most practical trend that I have fallen in love with in recent years. In the past they were only ever something I would wear in the gym, but now, thanks to the huge revival of the white classic Stan Smith’s they are quite literally all you see some of the big style bloggers and fashion icons wearing. Even Sarah Jessica Parker has been known to swap her signature heels for a pair of trainers.
For those of you that follow me on Instagram will know that I have a huge love affair with wearing trainers at the moment. That and my checked trench coat. Two years ago I invested in my first pair of fashion trainers, a pair of white converse and instantly they transformed how I wore my favourite printed midi dress. I remember seeing Alex from The Frugality wearing a pair with the same dress and instantly felt inspired. How is it that I never knew how comfy a trainer could be? They have quite literally transformed my wardrobe over night. Use them to dress down a posh skirt, make jeans look a little more on trend and on most occasions make a busy mummy day much easier on the feet.
For me, wearing a pair of trainers with a midi dress or pleated skirt is the ultimate outfit. And best of all they don’t just need to be in the summer months, I have been wearing my pleated skirts and midi dress all year round. It might be mid-winter but that shouldn’t stop you from wearing your favourite pleated skirt. I’m not quite ready to bare my ankles, I tried it a couple of weekends ago and instantly regretted it and so like me why not opt for tights, and throw on a great winter coat to accessorise. And then, when the warmer weather hits, you’ll be ready to bare those ankles and strip back the layers instantly updating the look.
Another reason why I love this look so much is that I am a huge advocate for having a wardrobe that transfers between the seasons and across day and night. Sadly Mr H doesn’t allow me to have a never ending budget so I really like to get maximum wear out of my clothes and therefore adding trainers to my wardrobe has been the perfect style solution. The key to wearing this look successfully is to find a pair of trainers that flatter your ankles and legs. For me that would be a classic Stan Smith – I can’t put my finger on why, they seem to suit the shape of my leg more so than the Reebok Classic I’m wearing below.
And so, these are my favourite ways to wear trainers…
How do you wear yours?
Love this! You always look fab and I love a trainer too – wonder if I could get away with a white pair for work?
Aww thanks lovely. I wouldn’t allow my guys to wear trainers but that’s a mindset and industry thing. What do you do in the day?
I own one pair of trainers that I bought about 5 years ago when I decided I was going to give running a try. I’ve never worn them! They always look comfy (and fab with a short skirt in summer for sure) but there are so many to choose from that I wouldn’t know where to start! I used to wear Reebok Classics as a teen so maybe that’s where I could begin again?
Yes for sure go for what you know feels good then branch out and try something new
Honestly KA you make everything look super cool!! I live in trainers and flat boots at the moment and literally wear them with everything and anything. I love that pink skirt and your beret xx
Aww you’re far too kind lovely. But thank you. x
Yes to the trainer! I started wearing them two years ago and haven’t looked back. I now have two pairs of the same trainer if different colours as I’ve found the ones that suit my wide flipper feet! Adidas Superstar 🙂
Ooh I’ll take a look at them, I don’t have wide feet but love the sound of them
Look gorge, as ever! I’m a HUGE trainers fan and wear them most days. I interchange with my Nikes and classic Vans. I do have my eye on a few other pairs though 😉
Aww Morgana you are far too kind. I think I could buy more but have to stop myself. I hope the return to routine is going well x
