I find myself saying this every month but oh my goodness where did September go. What with celebrating two weddings, heading back into the routine of work, sleep and repeat I seemed to have woken to October in a blink of an eye. And so just like that the Christmas countdown is before us. Despite saying I wasn’t ready for Autumn in last month’s post I can confirm that I have fully embraced it, the black tights, boots and winter coats are in full swing albeit sometimes throwing out a bare ankle in a bid not to say goodbye forever. Less about that and more about our little family adventures in September.

Just like August, September has been another month very much split in half. For the first time in forever I spent my first 3 days and nights away from George. On reflection is was too long and Mr H and I have made the decision that we won’t stay away for this long again together. One of us will always remain in the family home. George struggled with it on the third night and if truth be told so did I, only alcohol distracted me from wanting to drive home from Derbyshire. That said we really enjoyed the wedding, celebrating Mr H’s friend of 26 years getting wed over 3 days was very special indeed.
The first weekend in September we spent in the Lake District celebrating our first wedding of the month – we stayed in Ambleside and oh my goodness what a gorgeous spot. We had such an enjoyable time that we have booked to go back to celebrate our wedding anniversary in December. Hopefully George will enjoy exploring somewhere new. I’m all kinds of excited for a winter break.
Other than weddings we have enjoyed stayed close to home, our first trip out was to Trentham Gardens – the sun shone and really did show us how beautiful the gardens are in the brightest of blue skies and September sunshine. We collected conkers, leaves, acorns, kicked a ball and ate our last strawberry ice cream of the year. The perfect day. I cannot wait to go back this weekend to catch more Autumn scenes.
We then took a little trip over to Cannock Chase to hunt for the Gruffalo with the lovely Chloe and her family. We had such a fun morning building dens, using the Gruffalo Spotters app and generally just chatting whilst the children played together. Chloe also managed to capture some photo’s of George and I which have filled my mummy heart for at least another few weeks. I love looking back through these photos, full of so much colour, love and fun in the September sunshine.
And so here are a few photo’s from our month…
Once again thank you all so much for joining in with #MyFamilyAdventures in September, I really enjoy looking through the Instagram tag at all your adventures as well as reading your posts. It would be great to see what you have been doing – whether a day out, a round up of your month as a family or even a holiday in a blog post – add a link to say where you are joining in so that people know where to find the link up. And of course I’ll see you in the comments.
Oh , Kerry. I just love your photos, they’re so beautiful! September sure did fly by!
Thanks so much sweetie. Oh it did in a flash x
Gorgeous photos as always. The most time we’ve both spent away from our girl at the same time is 1 night, and even though I quite often work away, I can’t imagine how J would be if we both were away for a length of time. I love your photos and funnily enough I have one of J with conkers in her hands like that x
You’re a sweetheart, thank you lovely. Great to have you join in again. It was such a long time apart definitely never again x
Gorgeous photos. 3 days is a long time to be away. My eldest had 3 nights with her grandparents when my youngest was born but I was in hospital and she did visit in the day. We love ambleside. We are going for October half term. I can’t wait. I always see Cannock chase in your photos and think how gorgeous it looks.
Aww thank you sweetie. Ooh let me know what you do in Ambleside as ours was a very quick visit and would love to know what to do with George! You should visit Cannock for sure – so much to do and explore x
I have lots of ideas. I have some post already from last year and I will be writing more posts this year too.
Nothing beats Trentham in the sunshine does it? I absolutely loved spending time with you and George on Cannock Chase and my girls had tons of fun too – I’m so glad you loved the photos so much 🙂 I’m desperate to visit the Lake District – I shall be stalking your photos once you’ve been in December as we’re planning to go next year.
Love the ones in the woods at cannock chase, I keep meaning to take the girls so I am putting it at the top of the list again! Really excited to be joining my family adventures x
I do love the woods at Cannock Chase, hoping to have another trip out before Christmas x
