It’s been a couple of weeks since I have written a post about the little things that have made me smile. I’ve been distracted by the summer holidays, the two-in and froing, organising and packing for our holiday. As I write these words I have been awake since what can only be described as silly o’clock, and despite feeling tired and wanting to put my head under the blanket and snuggle into Mr H I woke to the most gorgeous blue and pink sky. There’s nothing like bright sunshine in a morning to pop a smile on your face. There is something to be said for an early rise at this time of year.
With only a few days left at the office before breaking with the boys for a whole two weeks, which will be the first in 6 years – my to do list in both the day job, here on my blog and let’s not forget home life is getting longer by the day. And so the only way to ensure we leave the UK without a worry (who am I kidding) is to push on in attempt to get ahead. And so, here is a little bit of life lately for our little family…
The summer holidays are in full swing, we are in the middle of week four and if truth be told I can’t quite believe how quickly they have passed. I was a little nervous as to how they would go a few weeks ago – we made a huge decision to extend our holiday to two weeks from one which meant that we had have had to rely on sports club, a friend and Nanny to help us with childcare until the fifth week arrived. For the most part our boy has enjoyed his time going between all three, with only a couple of wobbles which were very quickly remedied by promises of chocolate, football and the beach.
One thing we learnt from the school holidays last year was to schedule in a play date or two with our boys closest friends – I am so glad that we have. He has really enjoyed running free, getting covered in mud rolling down hills with his friends and whilst it means I don’t quite get to keep him all to myself it really doesn’t matter as it has been so lovely to see the excitement on his face as his friends approached us.
We have ran around the maize maze, climbed trees, rode the rides at Alton Towers, played tennis and kicked a ball (of course) and let’s not forget the park. And whilst on our travels one Sunday afternoon Mr H took a little detour and surprised me with a stop off at a Lavender Meadow. I have been talking about this spot for weeks – I hadn’t realised until doing a whole lot of research that there was in fact a lavender field closer to where we live. Oh my goodness, it was so beautiful and the smell – as we arrived towards the end of the season it wasn’t at all busy. I am already looking forward to returning next year for a family photo. But for now here are a few snaps…
And that’s a wrap for now, in a few days Mr H and I will be signing off for two weeks whilst we enjoy time together in Spain. I’m thinking sun, sea, sand and sangria with lots of laughter and good food. Have a great rest of the summer holidays and see you again in September.
Lovely post and pictures, your little boy always looks so happy. Enjoy your holiday! xx
