The midi dress is my thing. It’s my go to look, one that has stuck with me over the years. Combine a midi with a bright floral print and there you have it, my style classic. Last weekend Mr H and I escaped to Manchester for a little date day and as so many of you were so blooming lovely when I shared my outfit choices over on IG Stories I thought I would put a little post together on what I wore but more importantly why.
This midi dress from Zara is by far the most worn and the best transition piece I have in my wardrobe. I’m wearing it now without tights, ankle boots and a leather jacket. A few weeks ago I wore it with over the knee boots, an oversized knit and a winter coat. Can you believe it is from two summers ago and still it remains a favourite. It just has something that no other dress in my wardrobe offers. Although Mr H would disagree, well of course he would.
Since becoming a mummy the one thing I have changed in my wardrobe is the separation between day and night. There are still some pieces that will sit in each of those camps without movement but mostly I like to buy clothes which work as both. This dress is exactly that, with the addition of the leather jacket in the day you get that dressed down look which works perfectly on a date day with my beau. Remove the jacket and the swoosh of the skirt and detailing on the shoulders has me flirting my way through the night.
These boots have been my most favourite buy in 2017, you can find them over on Zara here. I always struggle to wear ankle boots and not feel like I’m plodding along like an elephant, these delicate little pixie boots literally jumped out at me when I saw them. So very feminine. The dress is old but there are still similar on Zara or more recently I have seen several really cute ones over on Mark and Spencer. I am loving M&S this year, they are rocking spring fashion.
Do you have a go to style?
I love this outfit on you! I have a couple of midi dresses, but I’m never sure I can pull them off. I watched your stories fro you date night, looked like lots of fun! X x x
Aww thank you honey, they are definitely my favourite. I think it depends how you wear them, I’ve seen you in converse haven’t I? I wear this with converse and a denim sometimes for an even more dressed down look x
This looks so good on you! I don’t wear print very often – ahem, not at all actually but even I’d be tempted with this one. Love it with the leather jacket and little boots, they are very cute. Hope you enjoyed your date day/evening, looked like a lot of fun xx
Aww thank you honey. Aww I can see you in a print, I think as girls we just have to be careful with the size of print, how small or large it is as sometimes this can bring out the worst in our bodies. We had such fun honey thank you x
I love everything about this outfit KA. It really suits you! I’m so scared of prints, though I don’t know why. I think I need you to take me shopping! xx
Aww thank you honey, definitely an old favourite. I wouldn’t have thought you were scared of prints, I can see you in a print. I will happily take you shopping, combined with a photo walk and cake x
