When a weekend takes you by surprise and truly warms your heart. That is certainly how I was left feeling as my head hit the pillow. They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content and I think they were right, that was this weekend for this here mummy. After feeling unwell for most of the week, a weekend running at a slower pace and cocooned in our little family bubble was just what the doctor ordered.
Often our weekends are planned with military precision, what with Lil G’s classes, birthday parties (does he really need to go to each one?), running errands, Christmas preparations, cooking and squeezing in some family time it feels so nice when things slow down a little. And so, when they do slow down a little I find myself really appreciating our time together.
Mr H is spending most of his free time studying for a big exam at the minute which means I get to spend some much needed one on one time with out gorgeous boy. We miss him when he locks himself away for hours and hours, only seeing him when he requires food and drink but in less than 13 days we have a magical trip to look forward to which is keeping us all going. And with Mr H’s time with us limited we really do make the most of the small window of opportunity to head out together as a family.
I really do miss having time together with my boy. I say this on a regular basis, but I do miss my maternity leave days, which sounds a little crazy given that Lil G is five and a half. I know this but a girl can dream can’t she? Of working part-time, having lazy PJ days and walks in the park with our furry baby. Days where there are no routine, no alarms, no schooling, no classes to run to and no packed lunches. The little things I feel guilty about doing on a weekend because that is the time when we are together as a family and go off on an adventure.
And here are a few snaps from our little family weekend, full of festive fun as we met the big fella and some wonderful memories made along the way…
And lastly, it is back to work, sleep, repeat for our little family. A week of to do lists, work, training and running to Lil G’s swimming and football classes. Until next weekend may your week be short, smooth sailing and filled with little pockets of festive fun.
