If you haven’t already met the phenomenom that is the Elf on the Shelf then let me tell you a little about this tradition which our little family love so much. He is an elf doll that a family adopts for the Christmas season, for us he arrives December 1st and watches over Lil G to see if he has been naughty or nice until December 24th. Although I would like to add that we introduced this tradition to have a little fun at one of the most magical times of the year rather than to demand a certain behaviour.
This is the fun part – each night he flies back to the big fella with a little report and on his return he creates a little elf mischief. He moves from room to room each night, it really is such a lovely tradition for your little ones, one which creates a little excitement for each morning.
You can make it as simple or as elaborate as you like, this is our third year and it is safe to say that I really am pushing the boat out this year. I am trying to come up with more and more creative ideas each day building on what we have done previously. This is purely to entertain our gorgeous boy, not to compete with other elf on the shelf followers, mummy’s or anyone else for that matter, or to annoy those who for some reason find him freaky and frustrating. Although I do like to compete with myself, just call me Monica. If you do not like this harmless tradition then move on now.
Harmless fun, nothing more, nothing less. The perfect way to build up the festive period. I thought it would be a lovely idea as I did the same last year, to share our elf antics from week to week, and here they are…
I hope you have enjoyed reading my first elf antics post for 2016, and I hope to have inspired some new ideas. Do let me know if you have tried any in the comments. See you next week.

Oh I love the idea of a sack race! Where did you get the bags from? x
Thank you for popping by Katy, I know I mentioned on twitter but the bags were from The Works x
Great ideas! Ours is having a bath today, after rearranging our lightbox yesterday. They are fun, and my two love rushing to find him every morning. Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
This is our 3rd year having an elf stay throughout December….
My girls still love finding her every morning!
We have avoided the elf on the shelf, but I do like seeing some of the more fun and creative ideas people come up with. The Shreddies box and Darth Vader using the force made me smile. #wotw
Thanks so much Cheryl, we just enjoy having fun with it

Its all just a little bit of fun but for George he has so much excitement for the build up x
