Here goes, I am ripping the blindfold off which I have held on to so tightly for the last few weeks and I am stepping out of my comfort zone. From today I am taking baby steps huge steps towards a brave new world. For months now I have been watching Instagram grow and I have decided that I want to get a little more involved. I want to continue to share our little family adventures with you and I hope that you join me in making it a place of inspiration and happy moments. From the day Lil G surprised us with his early arrival to this moment I have been a snap happy mummy, capturing life as it has changed one photo at a time.
Time flies by so quickly doesn’t it? It is something I have noticed more and more since Lil G started school last year and so as a family we have made extra efforts each month to spend more quality time together. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, it could be a trip to the park, collecting conkers, painting pottery, making cookies or walking our doggy. Or a magical trip to Disney Land, a trip to the beach or even indoor fun if the rain keeps you behind closed doors. For me it is all about capturing our little family adventures and being able to look back on them and smile. For those moments to evoke a sense of happiness, or even just to make me smile on a tough day at the office or a rainy Sunday when we are trapped indoors.
They are all moments in time which when I look back on spark emotion, laughter and love. On a Monday and Tuesday I often spend my lunch breaks at the office looking back through my camera roll, looking back at the moments I have captured, whether a beautiful photo or something grainy they all make me smile. I look back on the adventures our little family have had and feel thankful that I did in fact hit the button.
My love for photography has grown massively this year which is partly down to Mr H or should I say Santa for introducing me to an Olympus PEN, my love for capturing family life and the little things I love and lastly Emily & Stefan Quinton for their guidance. At the beginning of the summer I joined the Makelight Family Storytelling photography course and one of our first tasks was to create a family photo wall. As it was our first school summer holidays we made a pact to photograph and print as many photos as possible. It is this course and our photo wall which has inspired me to create an Instagram Community. Thank you Emily.
I really do hope that there are some of my followers on Instagram and from my blog who will join me in sharing their family adventures *runs and hides*. I hope for this hashtag to inspire you and make you laugh and smile, for your hearts to be filled with love, or even to encourage you to pick up a camera. Often as we enter the colder and darker months of the year we find ourselves staying close to home, maybe a community such as this one will inspire us to step outside or even offer new ideas for how to entertain our littles indoors.
The power of a memory is so incredibly strong but of course over time that strength can be watered down, yet with a photo there is the ability to be transported back to a moment in time and more so with a printed photo. Can you remember when we put our photos into albums? Since the beginning of the year I have been sharing a monthly post where I write about our little family adventures, I plan to continue to write this post each month as it is a great way of looking back over the month, keeping a journal if you wish of how a month has flowed. Often I find myself wondering how we have in fact managed to squeeze everything in.
And so, with a dash of courage, a dollop of hope and a spoonful of family adventures I would like to introduce you to my Instagram Community #MyFamilyAdventures – I’m going to keep it really simple and just ask that you use the hashtag #MyFamilyAdventures on your photo’s which you post on Instagram throughout the week and month. As long as there are enough of you and it isn’t just my photo’s (fingers and toes crossed) I will then post my favourites in a little grid on my feed each Monday and share a post on my blog too.
I am really looking forward to seeing what fun you all have. Any questions do just ask lovely people. And lastly, thank you for considering to join in with a project which I feel so passionate about. Life really is one big adventure.
