This week I have been

This week I have been

Bonjour.

Getting back into things after a week in France.

From living on a diet of pastries, macarons and french wine to coffee and well, a much less interesting diet that’s for sure.

Acclimatising, enjoying having sun kissed skin once again. It was so so hot in France. We had two days where it reached 40 and 45 degrees. Hot hot hot. Unbelievably uncomfortable actually and tough to sleep in at night without air conditioning. That said it didn’t stop the fun, just slowed us down.

It has been a week of popping away my summer clothes as the weather for the coming days looks truly awful. It felt so strange going from my summer gear to jeans within 24 hours. It was cold and rainy and if I am honest has left me feeling a little miserable this week despite just spending a gorgeous week together exploring Normandy. I’m sure the weekend with my boys will reset me.

Anyway, here are a few things I have been doing this week, with maybe one or two thrown in from last week because quite frankly it’s better then talking about dodging the rain…

Writing on the blog

After taking a week off from the blog, not so much my day job I was quite looking forward to getting back to noting a few things down. Recording the moments here on the blog and of course sharing them with you.

I’ve managed to upload two posts this week and have so much more I want to share before our next holiday. I still have some Florida posts to share with you. I guess I need to really get my head down and re kindle my love of late nights spent writing and sharing. I used to steal moments in the daytime, that was before it was my business. Now it’s stealing moments in between everything else.

If you fancy a read there’s our monthly Me and Mine update which I always love to pull together. I’ve also shared our Travel Guide to Normandy. We love to travel and often I’m asked about what, where, when and how so I thought I would introduce a Travel Guide from each place we travel to whether in or outside of the UK. Hopefully they inspire or at least make you smile from all the photos.

Taking our first ferry trip

We were very kindly gifted our trip to Normandy by Brittany Ferries. It was our first time as a family travelling by boat and gosh what a different experience to how we usually travel. We took an overnight ferry on the way which was really interesting. Other than our cabin and where we parked our car we didn’t really get to see the ferry at all. That said we had a super sleep and woke up to a lovely sunrise in the middle of the ocean. One for the memory book.

As you can see below our return journey was very different. Beautiful. We had a scrummy lunch, explored the decks, sunbathed, played ping pong, watched a movie in the cinema and generally had a blast. The views were incredible. The trip was peaceful and if truth be told surprised us by how quickly the time passed. I was amazed by how much there was to do on board. What a great experience.

Dreaming of the feeling of sand in my toes

It’s a great feeling. Don’t you think? Each time we visit the beach I just love to wiggle my toes in the sand. Beach life really is the best. Definitely one of those ‘now I’m on holiday’ moments. The beaches in Normandy were a lovely blend of soft sand and shells. There was so much to explore. Some gorgeous views.

Catching up on some TV and a few Movies

It’s been one of those weeks. Well since we got back after not having any TV in France we all enjoyed watching a couple of movies on Sunday. We went to the cinema on Sunday to see The Lion King – I really do love this adaptation. Jon Favreau was the best person to Director this movie. I love listening to him speak. And then Mr H and I have been watching The Rookie on Netflix, a cop drama set in America. Easy viewing for the evenings.

And lastly, getting excited for visiting Spain

We have one last holiday this year which we are all really looking forward to. We have already had two wonderful holidays this year but this one is always a favourite. It isn’t particularly special, we stay in a friends apartment but it’s how we spend our time together that we all love. So much. We love the location, we stay in a small village just outside of Torrevieja and Alicante. It’s off the beaten track. We hire a car and explore local Spanish villages, hidden beach coves, eat paella, play on the beach, watch the sunset at one of favourite beaches. We have so many special memories here. Just three more weeks.

Have a great week and see you on the other side.

Your holiday looks amazing. My girls had their first trip on a ferry last year, and they loved it. They see it as all part of the holiday. Your spanish break sounds brilliant, how lovely to get to do it every year x
