June’s Little Loves…

June's Little Loves

June has been blooming lovely hasn’t it? So much sunshine, long days, bbq’s and time spent with friends enjoying the weather. A gorgeous mix of busy weekends, some downtime and of course celebrating our gorgeous boys 7th birthday. I had hoped to update the blog throughout June with more of my little loves but time slipped away. I really do need to get back to posting these little updates regularly as I do love them so. I also unexpectedly had a little break away from the blog, only for a few days but actually it felt good although I am left with lots of inspiration to write vs struggling to find the time to actually get my words down. I would love just one day a week where I could put pen to paper from the moment I wake until I fall asleep. Wouldn’t that be nice?

So what’s happened in June apart from long sun filled days? Well the end to our Cornwall break was brilliant, we completely fell in love with Watergate Bay and the area of St Mawgan Porth which is where we stayed. I’m still to write about it, I desprately need to share my photos – I must change that.

Birthday celebrations with friends in Manchester, lazy days sat at Trentham Gardens looking across the lake, Saturday evenings at the Cricket Club with my boys, listening to lots of football chatter from the boys followed by birthday celebrations for George. I always love the month of June. What’s not to love.

On George’s birthday day he chose to grab a takeaway pizza and head to our local park where we could sit in the sunshine, play football of course and just enjoy the evening. It was the perfect way to spend his birthday together. I love that often it is the simplest of things that leave you with the biggest smiles.

And so join me in this month’s little loves…

I’ve been looking for another pair of sandals so I thought I would dig out my trusty book ‘En BRogue’ to help me with my decision. I love this little book so much. I definitely Love Fashion. Love Shoes. Hate heels. I have decided on a pair of Black Birkenstocks, I just need to decide whether to go for the real deal or the Office version.

I haven’t managed to read all of last month’s Red Mag as yet, in truth I don’t actually know where it is, I’m wondering if I left it in Cornwall. Thankfully July’s edition has just made it through my letterbox so I will enjoy that as we drive to Windsor on Friday evening.

Dare I say Love Island. The month of June has quite literally been taken over by it. I haven’t really watched it before whereas the girls in the office chat about it each morning so I thought I would take a little look on the first night and well, the rest is history. I seem to have been sucked into a Love Island worm hole, Mr H isn’t too happy about it and lets just say I am struggling to step away. I fear he may combust if I continue to monopolise the TV at 9pm. I can’t remember the last time we caught up on one of the series we watch. Have you been watching the show? It’s getting a little gritty now, and oh my goodness as I write this post I have just been told that they are separating the boys from the girls and sending them to a new villa with a bunch of new girls. Eek. Aren’t they just naughty.

The cheers at the annual Sports Day, what a great day it is. A day of community spirit, supporting each others children and generally coming together as a school to celebrate our little ones. This one was his last at this school before he moves up to Junior School so it felt extra special. George did so well, taking home a Second place in the Running race, First in Hockey and First in Hurdles. He was amazing. I’m so proud, where he lacks in confidence in the classroom he makes up for it in sports. I love that he’s so competitive and whilst I agree that taking part is important so is winning! I am not a competitive Mum I promise. Not at all.

I have been listening to new tracks on my Spotify playlist, my favourites are Love On Hold (feat. Tawatha Agee) and If You’re Over Me – Years & Years. Have you heard of them? I’m not sure I’ve heard of Years & Years before seeing them on Graham Norton.

Birthday cake and cupcakes for George Archie and his friends. Well actually, I didn’t make them my friend did but you get my drift right? I thought about making no 7 biscuits but that was as far as it went. He loved his cake and cupcakes so much, can you guess the theme this year? He is all about football, I’m only sad that we couldn’t arrange a football party – typically you just cannot predict the weather but look at it? A football party would have been perfect.

Despite the celebrations being so very wonderful and so much fun (with more to come) I still couldn’t help but feel emotional, 7 just seems so big. I have written my annual birthday letter to my gorgeous boy, I really hope he enjoys reading them one day.

I really wish I had taken photos of all my outfits, particularly the red spotty dress from Next which I wore to George’s birthday party. It felt so lovely on, really flattering and a couple of my friends & a school mum said how nice it looked. Definitely the sign of a good dress. In summary my summer wardrobe is in full swing and I am very happy about that, feels great to get so much wear out of the clothes that only tend to see the sunshine for two or three weeks.

And lastly…

As you read this post we will be off to Legoland for the weekend to celebrate George’s 7th birthday. We did the same last year and had such a great time that we thought we would do it all over again but this time we’re doing it with friends and staying two nights.

And how gorgeous is Windsor? The weather is set to be so so hot which pleases me as wandering around theme parks in the rain is never much fun. It also means we’ll get to explore Windsor in the evening which I’m so happy about, we’ve booked a restaurant on the River Thames which should be lovely. I remember walking along last year, the view, the water bobbing along and of course the sunshine beaming through rye trees. I hope you have a lovely weekend little loves crew.

I have added this post to Morgana’s Little Loves over on her blog Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat.
