Cherry Blossom, A Sunny Bank Holiday & A Flower Social {Life lately}

For years now I have written a weekly post focussing on the little loves of my week gone by. A sort of happy post, a post for me to look back on when its been a tough week. It is a project Morgana from Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat hosts, a place where I met some of the lovely bloggers that I still follow today and also a few new folk to follow. At the end of April the lovely Morgana decided to reduce this style of post to a monthly round up which at first I thought would work for me but then after two weeks off I’ve found myself missing it.

So much so that I have decided to write this style of post whenever I feel I need to or want to. It may not be weekly but it will be more than monthly. You see, I love to look back on posts like this one. They are a place to record some of the little things that are often forgotten amongst some of the bigger moments but equally as important. I will of course continue to join in Morgana’s monthly little loves round up but for now I’m am going to be posting more {Life lately} posts which have featured a little on my blog over the years. So here goes.

The week’s are flying by here, I don’t know about you but I’m quite taken aback by how fast the year is whizzing by. As soon as we begin the countdown and preparations for George’s birthday celebrations reality hits that we are almost half way through the year. How did that happen? It only feels like yesterday when we celebrated Mr H’s birthday, which was right at the beginning of March. And now it is George’s turn. Oh my goodness.

And so join me in a little round up of life lately…

Read…

I have been working my way through The Way We Wore one chapter at a time lately. I love the context of the book, all the outfits and look into the authors life. I’ve been finding it much harder to read lately, I think with the mornings being so bright my exercise routing flipping from the evening to the mornings which means I’m always tired come 9pm. Sadly I just don’t find the same amount of time to read before bedtime.

Watched…

The weather app. I don’t think I have logged onto the Met Office so many times as I did in the days running up to the bank holiday weekend. The sheer excitement of 24 degrees led us to the seaside, we escaped to our favourite – Lytham St Annes. What a gorgeous weather weekend we had, I’m still living through the memories on my camera roll. You can read all about our weekend here if you fancy.

Heard…

Laughter, so much laughter. The weather and a long weekend does that right? Since last weekend poor George has been wishing every weekend was a 3 day adventure, now wouldn’t that be nice.

Made…

A handtied bouquet all of my own. My good friend Becky and I booked on to The Flower Social run by the lovely Laura over at Blossom and Tied. A local florist who I stumbled across on Instagram, all the best shops are on IG aren’t they! Laura who owns Blossom & Tied specialises in natural and wild blooms which are some of my favourites. So when I saw that she was running these workshops I couldn’t resist. I’ve always wanted to learn some tricks of the trade, but oh my goodness I hadn’t realised how hard spiralling is. Wow. And did you know that if there are any thorns, leaves and bits (that’s my technical term) on the stems then this sadly rots in the water and reduces the life of your blooms. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the blooms Laura chose – Rose Avalanche Candy, Lilac Statice, Aster, Sweet peas, Hard Ruscus and Dried Wheat. A few photos…

Wore…

Summer dresses and straw bags, all of the heart eyes for the warmer weather and wearing well lets just say less clothes. Adding this pink blazer to my wardrobe has to be one of the best decisions of the year. And of course the Robed Dress and Straw bag, there is more about my new favourite beach outfit over here if you fancy. I’ve also added lots of my favourite summer styles over on my Style Loves page.

And lastly…

We are off to the Cotswolds at the weekend on a little blog collaboration, it has always been a place on our travel list ever since watching The Holiday and I am so so excited. Fingers crossed the weather man keeps his promise and the sunshine stays around for our stay. I am so looking forward to exploring and hopefully some sunshine, now wouldn’t that be nice.

I hope you have a super month of May.
