Eating out at The Earl of Sandwich, Disneyland Paris {Review}

When you start to plan your trip to the magical world of Disneyland Paris most people start with which rides to tick off, whether to visit the Disneyland Park or Walt Disney Studios first and of course a bucket list of characters you are desperate to cuddle. Choosing what and where to eat seems to fall to the bottom of most people’s agenda which surprises me. Whereas for our little family food is always a priority and especially when visiting Disneyland Paris. You spend so long in queues for rides that the thought of being unprepared and queuing for food doesn’t fill me with joy. And so choosing which restaurants to eat in, making reservations and slotting them into our schedule has to be placed at the top of the list – I never like to be in a situation where I don’t know where we are eating or with a hungry six year old. With over 50 restaurants to choose from you won’t be disappointed, or so we thought.

Eating out at Disneyland Paris is very much down to personal choice and budget – whether you fancy counter service, character dining, table service, buffet, dining events and more – there are so many options. That said, you could very easily make a mistake which we have done so in the past and this is why I wanted to talk to you about the Earl of Sandwich, the master maker of hot sandwiches and the perfect spot in the Disney Village to grab some lunch! As a family we prefer freshly made food, we choose to sit down in an evening to relax after a busy day in the parks whereas for lunch we are happy to grab a bite and head back out or dine in if there is space and not so hectic. Which brings me nicely to the Earl of Sandwich.

We first stumbled across their hot sandwiches in December 2016 and made it our business to return on our last visit in December 2017 almost every day for lunch, yes it is that good and very reasonably priced. We love the location as it is situated in the middle of the walk from our hotel to the main parks. Perfect for stopping off for breakfast or indeed taking a break at lunch from the hustle and bustle of the parks. If you are visiting in the summer months there is the added bonus of the outdoor seating as well as two spacious floors. With its library style decor we always head upstairs as it feels less busy and has a great view across the Disney Lake, arguably the best view!

Why do we love the Earl of Sandwich so much? The sandwich bar is constantly inventing exciting new hot sandwiches, just for you – we saw two new sandwiches launched on our visit. With family-style recipes, you can enjoy some scrumptious assortments of meat, cheese, vegetables and sauces, all delivered in a deliciously warm bread bun and best of all they come personalised so there is no confusion over who’s is who. The bread is freshly baked on site as are the sandwiches – quality, taste and customer service is at the heart of everything that they produce. There are also a selection of wraps and salads to choose from and lets not forget the delicious sweet treats to pack for a snack when back in the parks.

My little boys favourite part of making his order was that he was able to choose his own meal from the kids menu and lets not forget waiting for the buzzer to dance across the table to alert you that your order is ready. There is even a lift to take your food up to the gallery should there be too much to carry up the staircase. Genius. You really won’t be disappointed, we loved our lunch dates at Earl of Sandwich. As a family of three, we ate for less than forty euros which included a kids menu, soup, wedges, two adult sandwiches and drinks – as well as snacks to take away.

Something else I did just want to mention…

You have to try their breakfast menu! The breakfast options at the Disney Hotels have changed in recent months, you no longer receive complimentary breakfast and therefore have to add it to your booking which in all honesty is so expensive. From personal experience I find the breakfast in the hotels to be a huge disappointment whereas the breakfast at the Earl of Sandwich is far from that! And at a fraction of the price, a family of three ate for less than twenty euros. It was by far the best place to stop for breakfast as we made our journey in to the park to enjoy the Disney Magic Hours. By the end of our stay we had our routine down to a tee, Mr H would pick up our breakfast as George and I made our way to the park gates where we queued for entry. We very comfortably ate our bacon baps and drank hot tea & coffee whilst we waiting patiently for the gates to open. I won’t lie there were definitely some jealous faces around us as the smell of freshly cooked bacon wafted through the queues.

Do you have any recommendations on where to eat when visiting Disneyland Paris? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I have added this post to Colette’s #TriedTested over on her blog We’re Going On An Adventure.

* We were gifted free meals in exchange for this review. All words and thoughts are my own – we all loved our breakfast & lunch dates at the Earl of Sandwich and would highly recommend.
