My December Favourites {Make-up, Clothes & all the Festive feels}

Are we really in the middle of December? The end of the year really has crept upon us and if truth be told I’m not quite sure how, it is the only month of the year that we have put so much thought and planning into. Since April we have been planning ahead and feeling so excited for the most magical month of the year. All of the heart eyes for December and how about the gorgeous blanket of snow we have had over the last few days?

We’ve created so many memories already this month and still we have so much more to experience and celebrate. Anyway, I digress – back to what I have been loving in December. There’s a real mix for you this time round, I say that because it has been a little while since I have shared one of these posts. And so grab a cuppa, wrap up in a cosy blanket and join me as I delve into my little loves for December…

I’ve never really been one to invest in my make up, perfume yes – I can’t help myself but not so much with make up. And I’m not sure why really. It could be because I don’t tend to wear that much that I can’t quite justify the investment – I look at others and always admire how they dress their eyes for a night out.

I was sent some gorgeous treats for my make-up bag from the lovely people over at Charlotte Tilbury and oh my goodness I felt like a child in a sweetie shop. Their foundation, concealer and eye cream wand and lastly their full lashes mascara are by far the best I have used before. And that is one tough call as for years I have only ever loved the Benefit mascara and concealer. My allegiance has switched and already I have a wish list ready for my birthday in January. Let’s hope Mr H takes the hint.

And lastly… the lovely Emma over at Life a The Little Wood recommended the Lanolips balm in one of her stories a few weeks ago and finally I found it in Boots. Its a little more expensive than I would usually pick out however as someone who rarely wears lipstick I think its a great option and it smells devine. Luscious lips for sure.

I love carrying my summer dresses through to winter and what better way than pairing with a chunky cosy knit? I haven’t worn cream before and I can’t help but think why? It goes with everything. I’ve mentioned the pink coat from Topshop so many times before and in all honesty I think I need to buy it in the navy too. It is my all time favourite winter coat, it really is going to keep me warm when we head to Paris in a few days.

And then there is my new favourite jean from Topshop. For a little while now I have been looking for an alternative to my skinny jeans, don’t get me wrong they have served me well for so many years but lately I haven’t enjoyed wearing them. I stumbled across these Moto high waist, straight leg raw hem jean and oh my goodness I need to pick them up in all three colours. They are the comfiest jean and so flattering too. Straight leg it is.

And lastly, a grey beret. I remember seeing a similar one on Zara which sold out quickly and as I was picking a secret santa gift up for Mr H from Primark I couldn’t resist trying this one on for myself. It has the pearl detail I love so much and in the colour I was missing in my wardrobe. I really do like this style and its so different to others I have right now.

Festive feels…

All the twinkly lights make me smile so much at this time of year and second to that mince pies – has anyone else eaten their bodyweight in the little festive treats? Soon it will be Mickey shaped treats but for now it is the wonderful mince pie. On another note, I can’t help but make pretty pictures of everything lately, and who doesn’t love a bauble selfie! I have added another of Lucy’s backdrops to my Christmas list – here’s hoping Mr H has actually gone and made the order. I seem to have fallen back in love with flat lays even if it is just to style my tea or coffee. George actually took this shot for me, he’s quite the photographer.

I couldn’t write this section without mentioning my new book – Nigel Slater’s Christmas Chronicles – Mr H treated me to it after seeing it on my friend Sian’s Instagram and as each night passes I cannot wait to curl up in bed to read a few pages. The words are truly mesmerising and I cannot wait to make my way through it as the month goes. Its a book full of notes, stories and recipes for winter. And lastly for those regular readers you’ll know how much I love a phone case, not only because I often have pretty pictures printed on them of my gorgeous boy but also because they give me the comfort that if I drop my phone (which happened at the weekend) it is that little bit more protected. The lovely people over at Case App are working with me to promote their phone cases and oh my goodness I am loving transferring my love of leopard print to my phone case. How sassy does it look? I do have a discount code for you if you fancy, pop in LIFEASOUR20 at checkout for 20% off – a great stocking filler if I do say so myself.

I haven’t written a post like this in a little while so I do hope you have enjoyed reading it. What little things are you loving lately?

    I love all your pretty flatlays – a new backdrop from Capture By Lucy is on my Christmas wishlist too. The beret looks fabulous on you – I really like your style and wish I had the confidence to carry off the pastel colours instead of living in black the whole time. Have fun in Paris!

    You can’t beat a few twinkly lights! I’m the same with perfume, a few years ago I started buying Jo Malone perfumes and ever since then, I’ve just found that cheaper perfume smell just that – cheap. I wear makeup everyday but it’s a mixture of cheaper and more expensive. Bourjois do a great purse friendly mascara, but I prefer Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow sticks over any other eyeshadow. Thinking I should probably up my skincare game because as the moment all I use is a Lidl face wash and Garnier Micellar water. Have fun in Disney!!! xxx

    I’m a staunch Benefit gal and have never tried Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve read quite a few posts recently waxing lyrical about how wonderful the range is, and now reading this has swayed me to give it a try.
    Hope you are having the best time in Paris! x

    PS, thanks for the Topshop jeans tip, I’m a huge fan of the straight leg and mom jean and these look perfect. AND they come in Petite too! x
