Last Sunday I packed my rucksack, kissed goodbye to my boys and made my way to Manchester for a pamper day. I spent the day with three friends who I have met through this wonderful journey of blogging – we spent the day chatting, eating and drinking fizz in between treatments and time in the Spa. How gorgeous is the building? The lovely team over at SpaSeekers in collaboration with the Spa at The Midland Hotel treated us all to an #AutumnBlissSpa day which was blooming wonderful. Highly recommended. It was everything I needed after suffering from a chesty cough the previous week.
Apart from falling in love with the building and decor, because lets face it Manchester is renowned for its architecture – I have so much more to share with you. From the welcome on arrival to the beetroot and goats cheese sandwiches (they were delicious), to the feeling of pure luxury on my skin as I enjoyed my radiance facial I was in heaven. There is nothing more I love (other than time with my boys) than spending an afternoon with friends. There’s just something about the atmosphere, calming décor, space and that feeling of tranquillity that made me escape the stresses of the week.
On reflection I would have preferred to have eaten my lunch downstairs in the restaurant space situated within the Spa area however we were a larger group. I like the whole experience of wearing my robe, truly relaxing and doing something that I wouldn’t ordinarily and maybe because it’s what I am used to. The décor in the Spa is just so beautiful – I instantly felt relaxed and couldn’t wait to explore. Having lunch upstairs just meant that I didn’t start to relax until I walked into the actual Spa. That said the space we ate our afternoon tea in was beautiful – the room was bright and fresh and beautifully presented. I must say that the service, choice of tea and food as well as the silver service was fantastic.
And that brings me nicely to my favourite part of the day. Relaxing in these hanging cocoons, I only wish there were more of them or if I could replicate one at home – they were so comfy and the perfect way to unwind after my treatment. This is the greatest relaxation room I have experienced in a Spa. I was whisked off to a treatment room and enjoyed a radiance facial which felt truly luxurious and lasted for 55 minutes. I have so much admiration for the beauty therapists, my girl tailored my treatment as much as possible and listened to the areas I wanted to focus on. I came out feeling fresh and alive just as I had requested.
On the day we visited one of the sauna rooms was out of order which reduced the space we were able to use after relaxing in the cocoons however that didn’t prevent us from enjoying the pool area. I loved the low lights in the pool area, although it was missing a few additional areas to relax around the pool but that said the cosy feel complimented the décor and decadent feel. Personally I would recommend visiting on a quieter day so you can truly experience all areas as some parts were particularly busy.
As Spa facilities go we were really impressed, the grandeur of the building, luxuriousness and attention to detail at The Midland Hotel. I had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to return with a group of friends or Mr H. They really have thought about all the little details and in doing so have made a beautiful space to relax in.
I have added this post to Colette’s #TriedTested over on her blog We’re Going On An Adventure.
