A family day out at Trentham Gardens…

Family, my favourite six letter word. For those of you that are followers of my blog or mini stories that I share over on Instagram will know that our little family’s favourite place to head out to on a weekend is Trentham Gardens. Whether for an hour or two on a winters day or enjoying a picnic on a deck chair on a long summers day, it is our happy place. A place we head to when needing to escape the military routine of work and school. A walk around the lake at Trentham Gardens is pretty much my favourite of all time in the history of ever. Taking in the scenery, exploring all the new little pathways we find on the way and stopping off for hot chocolate has become our Sunday morning ritual. So much so that George even knows some of the locals who seem to enjoy hearing the tales of a six year old. We have made friends with such a gorgeous little community of walkers.

And so, with half-term just around the corner I thought I would share our little family’s favourite things to do at Trentham Gardens in case you need a little inspiration. Join us as we journey around the lakeside walk, spotting the 15 fairies and wood carvings – our favourites are Spidy, Wishes, Tranquil and the wooden Otter. Venturing through Burke’s Wood, building a den, collecting sticks all before speeding off into the Adventure Playground to take on the assault course, climbing walls and more and lets not forget the sensory garden. One of my personal favourites whilst the boys run free is to take a gentle stroll through the Italian Gardens leading up to the Secret Garden, I cannot wait until the gardens are in full bloom. What a treat they are. Even in winter they are a photographers dream.

You cannot visit Trentham Gardens without stopping off at some of the shops in the Shopping village, one of my favourites is Perfect Setting which stock the gorgeous Steelite International Craft Range, Milly & Roses for all its vintage loveliness – and be sure to check out The Potters Barn where we recently painted a pot together. There are so many shops in the village that entice you in – George’s favourites being Noah’s Ark Factory where he can build a bear and Peggy Anne’s Sweet Emporium – a sweet shop of dreams for any child. There is so much more I could share wth you; the maze, the barefoot walk, the pirate ship sandpit and lets not forget a fish finger butty at Totally Delicious. Just as the name of the cafe suggests, Totally Delicious!

Here are some of my favourite photos…

A day out at Trentham Gardens is a lot like Serendipity.

It looks so peaceful and beautiful there. We’ve been to the shopping village and garden centre many times, but not the gardens – we must do it! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Trentham Gardens is such a beautiful place. How lucky you are to live close enough to go for walks there so often. I love the shopping village too – the music shop is my favourite. #WotW
