What I Wore At The Weekend…

As its a new year and because I made a promise to myself to add a little more of my personal style to the blog in 2018, I thought I would share with you what I wore at the weekend. I hope to share more of my outfits with you however that does depend on my Instagram husband actually helping me out and taking some photos. My actual photographer, the lovely Jenny is enjoying being pregnant with her third baby and so I have lost her for pretty much the next few months. And also, because I have a huge love affair with this coat and that jumper I just had to share them with you. Dreamy right?

What do I love so much about this outfit? Do I need to mention the bag? I only wish it was still available, it would seem that they all got snapped up in the January sales, dam you Topshop. My outfit is mostly new with the exception of my old faithful pleated skirt – don’t  you just love the boxing day sales?! The coat – its the check, the length, the lapels and then there is the pink jumper. All the heart eyes for a pink cosy knit. Need I say more? I love that in some lights or depending on what I wear with the coat that there is a faint pink stripe running through it – you know me I love anything with a splash of pink. You simply cannot go wrong with Zara for coats, the price, the quality and fit – just perfect.

For years I have favoured a boyfriend style blazer length coat – always drawn to them when looking in Zara, Topshop or Newlook. Definitely my go to brands for coats. That was until I found my first trench coat in Topshop two years ago and in all honesty I have struggled to feel as comfortable in anything else. That was until I found my pink coat of dreams, which resulted in me selling many of the coats in my wardrobe in 2017, I realised what I liked rather than following the trends. Which is a mantra I am sticking to this year, more of me and less of following the trends, well some of them anyway. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw…

The number 1 rule of fashion: always wear what you want to wear

More about this outfit. Perfect for a simple Saturday, a really nice blend of hanging out with my boys at drumming class, brunch with friends, a cinema date and running errands. I found this check print coat in the Zara sale and oh my goodness I fear it may be all I wear until Spring arrives. That’s ok right? Although my Instagram followers may not thank me for the repetition I do love it so. No one will notice I am sure. Anyway, back to the outfit – I love how effortlessly casual it looks with my Stan Smith trainers – and oh my goodness how comfy are these trainers? Love love love them.

And that jumper, it was one of the only things I managed to find in the Topshop sale this year but I am so glad that I did snap it up as its gone now. Thank you Rebecca for the birthday gift card. Already it is one of my favourites, cosy and pink with unusual sleeves, not too thick which means it will stay with me right through Spring. The perfect outfit.

Did you pick up any bargains in the Boxing Day sales?
