January may have been full of grey, gloomy and rather wet days but that still hasn’t stopped us from enjoying some fresh air and time together, just us. I don’t know what it is about the start of the year but I long for lazy weekends together, but ones that have us out exploring early in the morning and home for lunch and a movie afternoon snuggled under blankets. Just maybe it is the battle of getting back to routine that has me dreaming of so much time together cocooned in our little family bubble.
And so, in a bid to make the most of the weekends despite the weather last weekend we popped on our boots and winter woollies, packed a picnic and head out for a walk to somewhere new. I love finding new places, and even though The Roaches, Peak District is on our doorstep we have never explored before. We didn’t quite manage to eat our picnic as it was so cold but we most definitely warmed up drinking a cup of hot tea as we arrived back at the car.
George was so happy, he called this a hike and claimed that it was the best day ever, I love hearing him state that despite him saying it on most of our days out I know that at that point he is in his happy place. Despite being creatures of habit it really is lovely to find somewhere new, this boy loves to explore and for as long as he enjoys it we will continue to do so.
As we were all new to the area it was blooming lovely exploring a new spot together, usually one of us leads the way whereas on this walk we all kind of stuck together and found our way. We literally scratched the surface and cannot wait to go back on a brighter weather day and really enjoy the view from this point…
