Every girl needs a pink coat…

It has been a little while since I’ve written a fashion post, so I thought it was about time I stepped up my blogging game and hit the keyboard. You see, I don’t know if you’ve noticed – there has been a little bit of a change here on the blog. A new look, a fresh approach to how I present all my little loves to you. A colour scheme that makes me smile and a layout which I have been longing for but has taken me a little while to figure out. As most of you know – Life As Our Little Family is a family, lifestyle and style blog, a place where I document our family life, adventures and little loves. I love fashion & photography and finally I feel like I have a place to share all of that with you.

I’ve tried to be super organised and have everything categorised so that you can find it without digging deep – also so that I stay focussed on these three areas. I often lose myself to one and there’s so much more that I would like to share with you and for the most part that is my love for fashion and so today, on a rather cold day in November is the beginning of me sharing more of my style loves with you.

And so I give you the pink coat, my biggest love in my wardrobe. I’ve never really been one to follow a certain trend, follow fashion rules – I go with the attitude of if it feels great then wear it, however when this pink coat hit the shops I couldn’t help but invest. I knew it would go quickly, and when you know, you know right?

I spotted it before I really needed it but you know that feeling of, this is the one. It was everything I needed in a new winter coat. And it’s pink, because lets face it every girl needs a pink coat! I was drawn to it as it is oversized – I am always guilty of picking out tailored coats which I struggle to fit big cosy knits under and well lets face it stay warm in at this time of the year. So, this year I vowed to not make that mistake again. It may not be the most flattering of coats that I have, nonetheless it is my favourite. I have so much love for this coat, does it show?

Finding your own way, wearing what you like and feel good in is so important. I love to embrace the change in seasons, and really is there anything better than that cosy feeling on a bright autumn day? My love for midi dress and mini skirts stays with me throughout winter and this coat is perfect for that, its so warm and toasty that I soon forget my ankles freezing. Really, I do. And best of all I am not left feeling like the Michelin man when layered with my second love, a big cosy knit.

I had hoped to link both the coat and jumper for you but it would seem both have disappeared off their accompanying websites. I have seen them in the shops recently though so do have a snoop if you like them. And so let’s go back to the old traditional ways – the coat is Topshop, £85 although I have seen it recently at 30% off. There’s also a brown, blue and natural version, the blue is lovely.

The cosy knit is from Next, £35. It’s super comfy, a gorgeous material and unusually for a roll neck it isn’t too tight around the neck. I’d been looking for a cream knit for a while and this is definitely a firm favourite. I have to say Next have nailed it with their winter fashion this year.

So talk to me about your wardrobe favourites at this time of year?

I’m loving the new look site!! Well done hon. I’ve been wanting to get mine updated for months now but it always seems to drop to the bottom of my to do list. I especially love your new typeface/font, I really dislike my font so this really stood out to me.

Ah this coat is so you KA and these pictures are stunning! I also love that roll neck from Next, it looks so cosy!!

Thank you sweetie, that means a lot as with my friend Sian we have spent quite some time tinkering and thinking about all the bits I like and wanted to share with my readers. Thank you sweetie, I had to share the coat x

Yes to the pink teddy coat! How funny that we should post the same this week – they clearly are this season’s ‘must have’ item. I’m also mad about the cosy knits at the moment, it’s been so blooming freezing! Loving your style posts KA. xx

That coat looks stunning on you. I struggle with oversize teddy coats as I am so short and it just drowns me but you pull it off like a running way model and this pink suits you to a T hun. I love the hat too with it. What beautiful fashion shots at St Anns too.

Thank you sweetie, I’m not sure it’s flattering on me either but I love it so much I just don’t care 🙂 x

I think your new site is beautiful – I love the new header! Your pink coat looks so snuggly – I don’t think it’s unflattering at all. Completely agree with you about wearing whatever you want if you feel good in it – that’s all that matters at the end of the day isn’t it?

Thanks so much Chloe, that means so much as I really wanted to have a site that resembles who I am and my little loves.

I love this look on you KA! I’ve been so tempted my that coat but it just doesn’t suit me *sob* I shall have to keep looking. I really do need an oversized coat as mine are all too tight to wear with big knits x

Aww thank you lovely. I think you just have to realise that anything oversized isn’t that flattering. That’s exactly the reason why I got it so that I could wear the larger knits x
