5 Things You Need In Your Autumn Wardrobe…

October is a funny old month when it comes to fashion don’t you think? I still feel like I am in a state of disbelief – because all of a sudden the weather has turned so grey and cold. The leaves have nearly all fallen, the trees look somewhat naked and a little sad. I miss the blue skies and warm sunshine of summer, sun kissed skin and days filled with light. Yet when the weather turned at the weekend as we went to pick out our pumpkins I was just maybe a little a lot excited to pop on my new bobble hat, winter coat and cosy knit. I surprised myself if truth be told. I find this time of year so confusing yet so blooming lovely when I fully embrace it. Who else wants to cosy on up under a blanket, wrap up in a blanket scarf and drink caramelised pecan latte? And then just like they have this week, temperatures have risen and I’m right back to where I started. Confused.

And so I thought I would share with you 5 pieces of clothing I have invested in for my Autumn wardrobe that I can see becoming a huge part of what I am wearing…

A cosy knit…

From chunky knits to seasonal sparkles I love a big knit, so cosy to snuggle up in – the perfect accompaniment to a cold winters day. I have various versions, some cardigans, cable knits, cashmere, thinner knits which still offer that cosy feeling when layered. This season is all about the layers and I for one am very excited. Despite what I said at the start of this post, bring on winter.

A winter coat…

Where do I begin! I am actually part way through writing a post all about my favourites some of which are from last years wardrobe. I think it’s good to bring back items from the previous season, not only is it easier on the purse strings and leaves room to spend on say knitwear but also don’t you find that you have a favourite each year? I revive my wardrobe each year, sometimes each season – I tend to have a yes, no, maybe and charity shop pile and go from there. My favourite is this cosy pink teddy coat I spied in Topshop.

A blazer…

A huge trend this season. If truth be told I have always had one or two in my wardrobe however this season I am in love with the Prince Charles check and couldn’t resist this insta-famous one from Primark, you know you are on to a winner when the big fashion bloggers are sharing it! I love them oversized and a little longer in length, the boyfriend style isn’t for everyone but certainly a trend I have taken to over the years. I have seen so many in the shops but in all honesty I like the ruched sleeves and the relaxed look of this one.

A pair of red boots…

It may just be me but in all seriousness the right footwear makes an outfit right? As Autumn arrives I always find myself hunting around for the perfect winter boot to take me through the season. Whether for comfort or to make a statement I’m a little obsessed with both. I have a blend of both in my wardrobe right now, however my red boots were such an impulse buy that I am desperate to get more wear out of them. I saw them in Zara and couldn’t resist adding them to my basket. I haven’t worn them as much as I’d hope but as Mr H tells me they were an investment buy and will stand the test of time. I am looking forward to wearing them with skinny jeans, a cosy knit and a big winter coat when it gets a little colder. I just need to invest in another pair of jeans as I think they look much better with a darker wash.

A bobble hat (or 4)…

One thing I love about this time of year is building a little collection of hats for when it gets a little cooler. Stood around a bonfire or on a winters walk I really love to cosy up in a hat and scarf. Although this year I have also added headbands and turban style hats to my collection for when it isn’t quite as cool. I adore this mustard one from New Look – there are other colours but you know me, I do love a bit of mustard or should I say a lot.

I’d love to know what pieces you are adding to your wardrobe lately? I’ve taken a big leap this month and filmed a little vlog of my new buys for anyone that is interested – I have included how I would style them as well as my favourites. If you fancy a snoop then do pop over for a read.

I love a cosy winter coat and a bobble hat! Not keen on blazers as I don’t think they suit me but you wear it so well. I seem to be on a never-ending hunt for the perfect pair of boots…

KA I love the black skirt and blazer combo! I don’t think blazers suit me, but reckon I might be able to pull one off with a skirt like this. Thanks for the inspo! xxx
