A Photowalk around Belgravia & Chelsea

A little over twelve months ago, I made a promise to myself and that was to inject some time into developing the things I love, spending more time on me. Whether that be my fitness, my love of writing or my latest love – photography. I have always been an advocate of taking photos, capturing a moment in time and storing it in a memory book but since becoming a mummy my love for photography has heightened somewhat. I just love capturing our little family life together, my boys are my muse. I also love the details around us.

And since setting up this little corner of the world wide web I have fallen in love with photography but more the art of it and the creative side it is bringing out in me. I want to learn more about how to take that perfect photo, how to use my camera and all its fancy settings – about lighting, the magic hour and the technical aspects of capturing the little things I love. Whether it’s taking a photo of my morning cup of tea, a pretty bouquet of peonies, our family days out, portraits of my growing boy (that’s another post), pretty things, the world around us or the clothes that I wear. Something or someone that makes me smile.

One thing I have learnt since becoming a mummy is that it is important to find time for yourself – for Mr H it was cycling, running and spending time with his friends and for me it was my blog, finding time to write and learning more about photography. And so when the opportunity arose as part of my ticket for the Blogtacular conference to go on a photowalk around the streets of London I jumped at the chance. I was so excited to spend time with others that enjoy taking photos, appreciating the world around us and capturing a moment in time which would hopefully invoke many memories. And whilst I knew that I wouldn’t learn the technical aspects of using my camera I was really looking forward to spending it with two friends Alison and Sarah who I have met from this blogging community, a place I continue to fall in love with.

And so here are some photo’s from our photowalk through Belgravia and Chelsea…

I love the streets of London so much, they are awash with colour, filled with so much culture and just look at those flower boxes. Absolutely blooming gorgeous, they are quite literally a photographers dream. The other group went to the East and were photographying street art and painted walls which again would be so interesting to photograph although I was secretly happy that I got to go on the West walk, perfect for the things I love to photograph as and when I get the opportunity. If only we lived closer, I can imagine losing hours to photographing the streets of London, as much as I love to roam the streets of my neighbourhood they simply don’t compare.

These streets are made for walking…

Thank you Amber Rose Photography for snapping me on some of the photo’s above and of course to Alison and Sarah for helping me to capture the fun of the Blogtacular Photowalk. What a glorious sun filled two hours spent roaming the streets of London we had. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Friday afternoon – and despite leaving home that morning completely unaware of what was in store, a little apprehensive, I needn’t have been. We mostly definitely met, shared and inspired each other which in all honesty is the reason why I set up this little corner of the world wide web after all.
