Stripes and Sequins

How many striped tops have you bought hoping they will be the perfect Breton? I have so many now and in a few variations – none seem to fit just how I had hoped. And then it all came together. When I first saw this skirt I was a little nervous to buy it. I held off despite falling in love with the colour and the glamour of it – and then up it popped in the January sales and I couldn’t resist. It was literally a few pound and I just thought, oh well it can sit in the wardrobe if nothing comes together. Just like that iconic scene with Baby in Dirty Dancing, no one puts this baby in the corner.

I recently wore this sparkly number to a blog conference in Manchester, I was a little nervous swooshing my way in to town in such a statement skirt but I guess I thought why not? Mr H always says why not? If there isn’t a good reason then why not? He’s right. I have this thing with being too over dressed but then so under dressed that I blend. As someone who loves fashion its good to be noticed, to be seen and to be remembered. I wouldn’t say that I’m an extrovert but I do love clothes, especially when they involve sequins.

A friend said as I approached her that she saw my skirt first and knew it was me, I couldn’t help but smile – for now this is how I want to be remembered. On this day I was KA, a blogger, a writer, a girl who loves pink, fashion and copious amounts of coffee. I’m so glad I put it with a striped top – and such a classic style with a 3/4 sleeve. Perfectly dressed down, suitably dressed up – I salute you Breton, for being my Manolo Blahnik. If you’d like to see how I styled this skirt for a wedding then do pop over to my Wedding Style post.

It was a real treat spending a day with a bunch of blogger friends, some of which I call friends and ones I am getting to know more and more each time I meet them. I would highly recommend you sign up to a blogging conference, if not for the sessions but the conversation, coffee and cake. Already my thoughts have turned to what I should wear to my next blogging conference in June, this time in London!

And so here’s how I wear my Breton…

How do you wear yours?

I love this outfit on you! It suits you so well!! I am exactly the same as you. I have about a million and one striped tops. They are just so easy to wear and much less boring than a plain top xx
