Me and Mine Family Portrait Project – April

As time goes by, as each month passes I’m reminded of just how much this gorgeous boy of ours is growing up. Just the other day I remember bringing him home for the first time, fastening him in to the car seat for the first time, resting his little head in his moses basket and taking him to his first baby sensory class. Time goes by so quickly. Sometimes everything seems so fleeting. I often joke with Mr H that I need to buy myself a pre owned hublot so that I stop saying the cliché I can’t believe how fast time is passing.

There comes a point in your life when you realise how quickly time goes by, and how quickly it has gone. Then it really speeds up exponentially. I feel like this is the point we are at right now. Since school began I am flabbergasted by how quickly the week’s pass, you go from counting in weeks and then months as your baby grows right back to weeks when you send them off through those school gates. With that, I think you start to put a lot of things into perspective; you start to see how important it is to record those family photos. This is why I enjoy this family photo project so much, it encourages me to capture our little family life and to write a few things down about how our month has been. And seriously what about second hand watches – the second hand on my OB has recently broken and I was thinking of investing something pre loved? Time waits for no-one as they say.

We captured these photos right at the beginning of the month so I guess you could say that they aren’t quite in keeping with how blooming gorgeous April has been. On the one hand they do show signs of how much warmer the weather has been, no coats, less layers and sunglasses protecting our eyes. On the other hand the colours make them look quite autumnal. I really love them as they remind me of a truly gorgeous weekend of family time.

I sometimes find it really difficult to come up with creative ideas of how to capture our monthly me and mine photos, this month was no exception – these photos kind of came together as we were taking a little walk through the woods. Hiding behind trees and constantly running after an excited five year old. At one point our gorgeous boy quite literally refused to pose with us and so the next photo is what came from that moment, I couldn’t help but smile at him, it is the perfect reminder of how independent this little boy of ours is becoming.

George has been enjoying the great outdoors, flying his kite and kicking a ball on the beach. Despite being desperate for the Easter holidays he also really enjoyed going back to school and being reunited with his little friends. He is storming ahead in in sports, school work and in general growing up lately which leaves me feeling so proud of him. I caught him writing in his little note pad the other night, completely independent of any support and it was so lovely to see. This boy is growing up. Be still my beating heart.

Mr H has been locked away studying for the month so this one is a little tricky. He really enjoyed our little break to Whitby, toasting marshmallows on the campfire and exploring Robin Hoods Bay, Mr H is always happiest at the seaside. And then there was our date day in Manchester celebrating a friends birthday and our cinema trip to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 as a family. The boys share a love for Marvel and I guess I just go along to spend some time together, oh how our Saturday nights have changed.

And lastly I have really enjoyed seeing the sun appear, wearing skirts and dresses and not having to take a woolly hat and winter coat on every venture out of the house. Watching the seasons change, the blossom appear on the trees and staying at our Camping Pod in Whitby was a huge highlight for April. As much as I really crave family time I have enjoyed our mummy and son days this month too, meeting up with friends at our favourite hang out Trentham Gardens and exploring Cannock Chase on the Gruffalo Spotters Trail were so much fun.

And that’s April for our little family. Already I am really looking forward to May, we are off to Wales and of course the seaside for five days, we are staying at Bluestone Wales in Pembrokeshire and really looking forward to exploring the local area. We visited two years ago and already I am looking forward to spending another week of free range fun together.

I am adding this post to Lucy’s #MeandMineProject over on her blog Dear Beautiful.

We’ve got into a rut of the same pose each month and I think I’m going to have to borrow your behind the tree one, I adore it! Time really is passing so quickly, I actually think I’ve felt it more in 2017 and expect it will go even quicker when J starts school in September #meandmineproject

We did have so much fun pulling these ones together, very much done due to my boys not really wanting to take part!
