For the love of pleated skirts…

I think I have found it. A pleated skirt, a thin jumper accessorised with a pair of trainers. Such an easy outfit, one that looks great and feels great too. It is officially my new fail-safe combo. You may have noticed by now that I love to wear a pleated skirt – there hasn’t been a time of year when I haven’t worn one. However, they are an item of clothing you either love or hate, the same with a pair of dungarees.

I love a pleated skirt. Whether worn with chunky boots, ballet pumps, converse or sandals they are perfect for my wardrobe. Whether I am heading into Manchester with Mr H for date day or off on an adventure with our five year old the pleated skirt seems to be the one I reach for each time. I often find myself stood in my dressing room pulling out my jeans, midi dresses and the like only to come back to a pleated skirt each time. I won’t lie my collection is growing, I recently added a pastel blue which I am really going to enjoy wearing as the weather gets a little warmer.

What I will say is its not what you wear but how you wear it. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a pleated skirt, a sweater and a pair of trainers. You will also find me pairing this style of skirt with a body suit, casual tee or a shirt. I have an array of colours and lengths now although my favourite is the slightly longer length which exposes my ankles. I have come to the terms that they often aren’t the most flattering, especially when worn with a jumper but the key for me is feeling comfortable and stylish. That’s what this outfit is for me.

Twelve months ago my go to style for a mummy and son day would be my dungarees but lately I just haven’t felt as comfortable, which I guess could be all the Easter chocolate or just that I am channelling my inner ballerina or maybe even the change in weather. I do love to expose my ankles.

They always look so good on you! I keep trying them but they never look quite right on me, maybe I’m too short. Everytime I see your lovely pictures wearing them it makes me want to try again…I might get that sweater though, it looks so cosy! xx

I love this outfit on you. I’ve tried to find a pleated skirt that looks good on me, but they just end up making my rear end look even huger than it is – not very flattering unfortunately! I think I’ll have to admit defeat *sob* I’ll just look longingly at your outfits. xx

Aww thank you honey. I think it’s one of those styles that either works or doesn’t, I’m not completely sure it does on me but I really love them so think what the hell. I think you’d look lovely, maybe one to the knee instead of a midi length x

You rocked this outfit girl. I love it. I have used my fashion photos you took too for a lovely thank you post to you for helping me find my confidence in front of the camera and being such an amazing friend. More to come of our trip to Trentham when I get a second to finally sit down and write it. #wrc

You look lovely in pleats! I’m like the others, they make my hips and tummy look huge. I’m so jealous that I’m not one of those people who can pull them off. I always think Jess from Along Came Cherry always looks lovely in them too xx

Thanks so much my love, I’m not sure they flatter most people if I am honest, I just think they’re really pretty and think why not x
