#littleloves - life as our little family

And just like that Friday has arrived, the weekend is nearly in sight. Not only is it time to share this week’s #LittleLoves with you but it is also my day to do the school run. I love love love a Friday morning so much. There’s no need to set an alarm that contains a 5am or 6am and best of all I get to eat breakfast with my gorgeous boy as well as escort him though the school gates. Precious times indeed.

And so here are this week’s little loves…

Read…

I have been enjoying reading back over my entries to my one line a day journal. Before Lil G arrived I wrote a daily journal and what with his premature birth and him being poorly for the first 15 months I really struggled to keep my journal going and so it was lovely to receive this as a gift from a friend a couple of years ago. What with the blog and this journal I am now back on track.

Watched…

Mr H surprised me with a little date night on Saturday. We enjoyed a cheeky little glass of wine in the cinema whilst he treated me to La La Land. Oh my goodness if you haven’t seen it, and like me are a huge romantic as well as a lover of a musical then it really is a must see.

We have also been stuck on Rick Stein’s Long Weekends where he is visiting a different City and exploring the local food and culture. The episode centred around Iceland has been my favourite so far. I feel so old when I say I love a food show that doesn’t involve cake!

Heard…

Jazz music in La La Land, Mr H and I have always shared the same passion for jazz music. I think our favourite City of Stars, such a sweet moment shared in the movie. I think that’s another reason why he picked out the movie, as well as the fact that John Legend featured in the movie, one of our favourites.

Made…

Nutella & chocolate chip cookies were the order of the day on Sunday. Lil G was desperate to bake and so we made a batch to enjoy after dinner. I love that he enjoys baking with me, he definitely follows after me for his love of a sweet treat. Mr H made one of my favourite dishes one night this week – Steak, rocket, parmesan and Polenta chips. Yum.

Wore…

My new favourite outfit, I think I started this little obsession back in October and I may have added yet more pleated skirts and cosy knits to my growing collection (not for Mr H’s ears). And lets not forget the leather jacket. I’ll show you more about this next week, for years I have wanted a longline leather jacket, one that I can wear cosy knits with and finally I found one. On ASOS and it was a little treat to myself for my birthday and it is totally delightful.

I also spied these little strappy shoes on New Look for £5 and I just couldn’t resist (another buy Mr H doesn’t need to know about). They are patent and beautiful and a perfect addition to my wardrobe, I just need the weather to warm up so that I can wear them without tights. There’s still stock if you fancy them too!

And lastly…

For those of you who follow me on Instagram or Stories may have seen that we have had a little trouble this week with Lil G’s spellings. I wrote about my feelings towards being a school mum in this post ‘They say it gets easier’ and I would love you to pop over and have a little read. The post was also picked up by Mumsnet on Thursday and made their #Blogoftheday which really made me smile as this post will be one of my favourites.

I have linked this post to this week’s #LittleLoves over at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat.

  1. I’ve been on the lookout for a nice leather jacket so will keep my eyes peeled for you sharing about it. I’ll pop over and read your post, I know we had trouble with Eli last year with refusing to read so I understand how it can feel! Have a great week x

  2. Oh love the outfit and the jacket sounds amazing. Off to Asos to check for it saw your response to Jess above. lol homework is a tricky old thing I can relate. Food looks delicious making me hungry. Love your nails girl I wish I could do longer nails. Mine are paper thin and I don’t ever have the time to get them done done someday it’s on my list. • I’ve just sent you the link as its on asos but I remembered that it’s a mango one. Homework is a really tricky one to master. These are my natural nails honey, shellac or gel actually helps them to grow. I hope you have a lovely weekend x

  3. Friday has come round so quickly hasn’t it?! I’ve heard so many good things about La La Land! Love your skirt, I don’t think I could pull of a bold print, but I really do like it! Your nails are gorgeous as always. Have a wonderful weekend lovely xxx

    • Thank you Stacie and me too, a pop of colour always makes me smile. I hope you get to see the film on the big screen x

  4. I do love the way you use your photos on your posts, you have such a talent. I can’t wait to see LaLa Land I’ve heard so many positive reviews. I think in these dark days of winter we all need something to brighten up life a bit.

  5. Lovely nails-I do love a bright colour! So jealous of your date night, me and B really don’t get out enough in fact I think it was only once last year for our anniversary (a month late) and to see lalaland, really hoping I get to see it before it comes out on DVD which is normally when I catch films. Cookies and steak oh yes – yummy! Have a wonderful weekend x

    • Aww thank you, I hadn’t planned for them to be so bright but I do love the colour. I think date night is so important, you need that time away but when they’re so little it’s difficult to make the time. I hope you do get to see the film x

  6. Your food looks delicious. I keep meaning to find that Rick stein show on catch up. Jealous of your date night but we find it hard to get out right now with a 7 month old.

    • Aww thank you I shall pass that on to the Mr! I can imagine you do lovely, it’s tough when they are so young to get time, it took us until he was 18 months for regular date nights. What we did do in the early doors was go out for a meal 6/7 o’clock and he slept in his car seat with us in the restaurant, it was always quiet in the restaurant and we at least had an adult conversation but without leaving him until we felt comfortable x

  7. Those cookies look delicious! Ha ha I was thinking I must be getting old as I’ve been loving Rick Stein’s Long Weekends lately, all while making a mental list of all the cities I fancy visiting and eating my way around. He visited Cadiz recently, which was one of the cities nearest to where we lived in Spain so it brought back lots of happy memories. Hope you all have a great weekend x

    • They are so yummy and super simple to do too. Its a great show and a lovely insight into a City too. We are having a lovely weekend too x

  8. Oh you had me at the Nutella! And I love your nail colour, it’s so sunny and spring like and perfect to chase away a bit of winter gloom. My school run day is Wednesday and I know what you mean about it being one of the highlights of the week, however crazy it ends up being in reality!

    • Ha ha that is exactly what Mr H would say! Aww thank you, I couldn’t resist a little spring love for them this time. It really is a highlight I hope you enjoy it. Have a lovely weekend x

  9. So much gorgeousness on your post today, I don’t know where to start! Firstly, I love your nails – so shiny and perfect (probably cos mine are split and horrible at the moment!). My husband is also obsessed with Rick Stein’s programme, I struggle to get past his voice but that’s my issue! Loving your outfits for this week. Beautiful. Have a lovely weekend. xx

    • Aww thank you Suzanne, my nails were freshly painted the day I took that photo. Rick Stein’s new show is a revelation we think. Ha ha yes I know what you mean about the voice. Thank you lovely, I do love an outfit. I hope you have had a lovely weekend x

  10. I quire fancy watching La La Land as it’s not usually a film I would go and watch, but this year I am determined to push my film boundaries. Looking stylish as ever KA, and how do you get your nails to stay so perfect x

    • Oh you should definitely try and see it Tracey, its such a beautiful film. Thank you so much lovely, my nails are painted with Shellac so generally stay perfect for 3 weeks before I need them re doing. A mummy must x

  11. La La Land is wonderful isn’t it? City of Stars is a favourite of mine too. I’m not surprised it’s been nominated for so many awards.
Your nails look gorgeous, love that colour.
    Have a lovely week xx

    • Oh it really is, and that song is on repeat here. Aww it would seem my nail colour is very popular this week. I hope you had a lovely weekend x

  12. Love the nails and the shoes! I desperately need a few wardrobe updates but finding the time to go shopping without a little person in tow isn’t easy. G is great when shopping until we get into a changing room, and then he screams blue murder! Not ideal conditions.
O loves baking but doesn’t like sweet treats so we don’t tend to do it that much as I end up with a mountain of cakes to work my way through (not good for the back to work diet) xx

  13. Sounds like a great week. I would love to go and se LaLa Land it’s not really my hubby’s sort of film so maybe when it comes out on DVD. I love the colour of your nails, so nice to have some colour at this time of year. #littleloves

    • We had such a lovely week finished off by the most gorgeous weekend. You should definitely try and watch LaLaLand its such a feel good movie x
