Christmas Eve Stocking

One thing I love about Christmas is all the little traditions we have introduced since becoming a family. Picking out Christmas trees at our local tree farm, decorating them whilst listening to festive music and making homemade treats for all the family to enjoy. Re- living our childhood through our five year olds eyes is one of the most magical parts of the run up to Christmas but it wasn’t always that way. Some would say that Christmas isn’t the same when you are a grown up, whereas for us the only difference is seeing the look of pure joy and happiness on our little boys face. Mr H and I are more than a little crazy about Christmas and have made it a huge part of our lives since we met 10 years ago.

This time of year is magical for so many other reasons, it isn’t just about Christmas for our little family. We celebrate our wedding anniversary, enjoy new years eve traditions and then of course it is my birthday. And all this happens before the return to work at the beginning of January.

For the last 4 years I have put together a little Christmas Eve box for Lil G. Just a few simple treats which our Elf Buddy leaves for him as we return from the Pantomime late afternoon. I’ve kept the contents of the box pretty much the same each year, things like new pyjamas, a small toy, a homemade hot chocolate and a new mug and lastly either a movie or new book to enjoy before bed.

Whilst I do love the idea of a Christmas Eve box, this year I thought I would change things a little and use a personalised Christmas stocking instead. Lil G absolutely loves his stocking and has enjoyed displaying it in his bedroom this year which gave me the idea of using it as part of our little family traditions.

You can read more about how I decorated Lil G’s room here. This year I am going to fill his Stocking with a traditional book; The Night Before Christmas, some lovely personalised pyjamas that we received from Ollie and Leila, a British manufacturer of children’s furniture specialising in gorgeous personalised beds, a new decoration for his tree which we added to his bedroom for the first time this year and maybe one or two other treats like a hot chocolate. Or maybe even something from our trip to Disney Land Paris will appear in there too.

Do you have a Christmas Eve tradition?
